FS: 1987 Firebird GTA L98 Hardtop

I am selling my 1987 Firebird Trans-AM GTA hardtop. It has the a L98 TPI 350 with 700R4 automatic. I was told the transmission was rebuilt in the last 10xxx but I have no proof. It has 104,xxx miles on the engine and the chassis. Gold GTA wheels with newer tires.

It drives and shifts awesome with no problems at all. Loaded with power windows, power locks, power mirrors, overhead console, cruise, tilt, foglights(1 has a crack but still works), etc. Black exterior with a tan interior. I just installed a new dashpad and 4th gen leather seats. It comes with both the original seats and the 4th gen leather, both sets need to be repaired. The GTA seats, I believe only need the bolster repaired. The 4th gen leather needs to be recovered all the way around. It could probably use new carpet as there are some stains in the footwell, but no holes or anything. The entire interior is complete.

Exterior there are spiderweb cracks on the rear spoiler. Paint is pretty good. Just starting to show some fading on the roof, but I bet it could be buffed out. There are 2 small cracks in roof at the usual spots by the top of the window. All original body parts on the car and no accidents ever. There are some small hail type dents on the roof of the car as well. It has a few scrapes and scratches but nothing that would require any body work. It was garaged every winter and there is no rust on the car. New dynomax exhaust from the cat back.

Looking to get $3500 for it.

It is currently in Dubque, IA but I make trips to the twin cities and Quad Cities.

Engine: 305 TPI 30 over
Transmission: 700r4
keep it

dude, seriously, that car is in great condition, dont sell it, if you do, you might regret it later, no joke, GTA's aren't exactly real common place, kinda rare. but seriously, keep it, its a hot car. if your just selling it cause you want, not need the money, i'd re-consider, but thats just me.

Any solid offers on it yet? I have been looking to sell my 91 for a black GTA.

Give me a few days, let me see what i can do.

I have one or two people interested in my car, if i can push them along, you may have a potential buyer

It's a GTA!!! Awsome are your fender badage's missing or they just not showing yup??

I'd sell the camaro as there junk any way IMO that is.
and the bird sell them as a set..

Keep the GTA ... Well $4,000 is a bit high for it tho But I bet you'll get $3,000 easy for it. I got my 87 GTA a year ago for $3,000.
It even had the dar GFX's painted gold looks sweet but, pushing the limit of over doing it...
Car looks sweet man i'd hang on to it there only going to increase in value......

I know $4000 is on the higher side for pricing but I think it is worth it. The fender badges and a sail badge is missing, I am going to order them soon. I have the original window sticker from PHS that shows the vin and that it is a true GTA.

I know you weren't trying to say it isn't a GTA but a lot of people, myself included, would doubt it. I doubted it was a GTA the entire time I waited for the PHS packet to come. I didn't believe it till I saw it on the sheet.

I know about people being picky too. I had a few people comment that it didn't look good enough to be worth that much. Doesn't bother me, I plan on detailing it as soon as I have some time, removing the ground effects and cleaning out under them, and powerwashing the underside and the engine bay. PDR is also on its way for the few dings on the roof. I plan on taking care of this car like I was keeping it, who knows, I just might.

Yup, it needs to go. I got a job where I do some traveling and I need a car that gets more like 30 mpg. Plus I really want a T-Tops car. I miss my Camaro that had em.

Forgot to mention that I sold the 4th gen seats but the original seats will come with it.

The rear tires are pretty good, at least half tread left. The front tires are pretty much shot. I had to brake hard to avoid an accident and flat spotted the tires that were on the car when I originally posted. I put on the tires I was using as spares. They are at the wear marks and starting to get weather cracked as well. One of the rear tires needs to be remounted. I noticed over the winter that it leaked air.

The engine runs pretty good. The EGR throws a code after driving for about 20 minutes at highway speed and it has a little bit of a rough idle most likely caused by the EGR being stuck open. I was going to remove the EGR and emissions parts when I put new headers in but never got that far. Other than that, there is a slight rear main leak, it leaves about a dime size drop on the floor, nothing major.

It just needs a little TLC and I don't have the time or the money to finish her up.

Hows the weather in Iowa at this time? I know up here its still kinda snowy in some parts. I'll have to come down and take a look at this thing.
