why?

it's all about fun, that's the reason why so little 3rdgens are ever at superfest as it is. half of the 4thgens that over run the show are there because they like to meet new people and enjoy their cars.

you do not have to pay to show the car if you do not want to their are drivers classes and you aren't stuck for the entire part of the show. often times groups of us leave for lunch and what have you through out the day.

it's a good time to spend a nice weekend with friends and get to know others who have the same interests.........if you don't want to go because you don't care to do that then it's one thing but don't go because of reasons beyond that.

if you have a camaro you should be there.

According to the website, it says $45 for car show car and driver. If I didnt have to pay anything, that would change my mind about it.

i hope to head out there early friday to check it out myself but i won't have the car up there until saturday.

alright according to the site it says that if you want to be in drivers class which basically allows you to park at the show and not be judged it's $22 for the whole weekend.

i went in the show class so i paid $25 for that. $10 for an event t-shirt and signed up for the auto-x and drag racing for free which in total was $35 for the whole weekends events fri-sun and two t-shirts along with the goodiebag and what have you.

now if you really don't want to spend $20 some odd dollars or if you just want to go for a day then my advice to you is to come a little later in the day. say 1 hour before the show ends on saturday to check out the actual show. bring your camaro whatever model it may be and head over to the HQ hotel (holiday inn). here you'll find more then 3/4 of all the cars in the show where you'll be able to talk with everyone and do your thing for as long as you like and you won't pay a dime to park.......that is if you can find parking.

Hey Kandied,

I am looking forward to superfest and getting to check out your ride. I hope there are more 3rd gen cars there....last time I did superfest there were probably only 25 or so.

I have to check with "the powers that be" where I work and see if maybe I can get friday off....love to come out friday and do the autocross...most fun you can have with your car legally

Probably have to due the dyno run too

James

come on where is everyone.........you guys will travel half across the country for a days event in a dirt lot but the countries largest all camaro show with drag racing and auto-x isn't good enough???

it's too bad the shows 2,3-4 of july as i bet there would be twice as many. sure would be nice to see some thirdgen support from here.

I know....that's my only beef about this show.....it's always on July 4th weekend. I have to choose between spending time with my family and friends here or be all by myself over there.

problem is 300 of the 500 cars come from out of state.........because of already set shows its one of the few dates open that they are certain cars will show. if enough people pre-registered for a different suggested date i'm sure they would change it.

maybe we should get a petition..........see who would pre-register if it were on a different date for next year! if you could get at least the same amount of cars around 500+ i'm certain they would do it.

i need to make a decision with air ride....they are really slowing down with the death of their head fabricator and now boyd is doing a shoot there for one of the projects the car has been pushed backed to long.

i'm not sure if i should leave it til it's done or go and get it unfinished for superest. they said it only takes 2-3 days to finish but they aren't sure if they will have it done.........

i have no leverage against them so i'm at a loss...

Kandied...bummer man. Whatever you decide, I hope you have it at Superfest....I can't wait to check it out.

I just saw into a couple guys tonight at a local cruise-in/car show that will be there, one of the guys was Doug Warren, pres. of West Mich. Camaro club.

yep doug and barry hensel from west/east clubs are always there...good guys!

yeah i hope so too, i don't know what to do with air ride but since i'm not a paying customer i have no leverage and that's really the bottom line. i told them they have til friday or i'm pulling it as i need a solid week to get the car ready and even that isn't enough time to get where it was suppose to be. they've really held me up so even if the car is there it won't be what it should have.

if it isn't one thing it's always another....worse part is i'm always tied with my hands behind my back so there is nothing i can do but put up with it....

I don't know what your situation is with these guys, but is it work that your could finish up on your own? That might be an option too. Are you just having them put in the air-ride or are they doing some other custom work?

James

I somewhat know how you feel about getting the your car ready...I was counting on a good solid week or two just for clean-up/ nit-picky stuff, but then I found out that I have to leave for Atlanta Monday and will be gone for a week.

nope...i took it to them because no one has the parts that are needed. that's the real kicker. the rear of the car is the same on 4thgens but they put that on first rather then focusing on the front and doing the part the car was actually brought down to do...

they finished the rear and the guy was killed so work stopped for a bit. when things got back on track boyd decided to bring american hotrod television show down for somet things....so who knows now what's going to happen.

thats a tough one jeff. can you go down there for a day or two and keep on them so they get it done?
like you said though, you cant push it to much, since your getting a deal on it.

but if i can get the car put back together, i will still be going.....but the car is more of a mess then last year at this time

yeah i know the feeling right now....not sure about going down there as i'm not sure what it would do but it's definately an idea and i'm heavily considering it however at $90 a night to stay plus expenses it could get costly to hound them with alot of boring IN time on my hands as well. sitting in their parking lot wouldn't do much either....

look there's nothing there.

no it's not on the highway...and yes some tunning is needed. it's up to around 12 right now which still isn't fun. leaving in the morning to get the car and then i'll be off of the internet for the week getting the car ready so if anyone needs to find me before the show email me so it will go to my phone.

see everyone this weekend.

So how's the swap meet at Superfest? I will not be bringing the IROC but I was thinking if there's typically a good swap meet area, I might come for the parts.

WOW, only 130 something cars are registered this late???
That is pretty sad , they had near 300 this time last year.
I wish I could go but I am WAAYYYY out on the west coast now (seattle) and it just isn't worth that long of a trip. I don't have a chance of winning anyway (4th last year and still haven't done any work to her).

Well Kandied and those other who are going have a good time. They were going for over 500 too.

you guys have to understand that the number registered on the site is updated by people......it doesn't always reflect the true number. they should be higher, they may be lower, as long as the show is 4th of july weekend they will never hit a real high number.

DSM be sure to say hello if you see the car...
