Livonia Cops
So I was driving to Schoolcraft College (7 mile and Haggerty) from work (10 mile and Lahser) and on the way there, I caught EVERY SINGLE LIGHT. So finally, I am getting an open stretch of road and of course, I get behind "grandpa" doing 25 in a 45.
My anger level is ridiculous by that point, so I cut over and gun it. I only accelerated from 25-45. Well, some lady behind me sees me swerve over and accelerate and decides to get on her cell phone and call the police saying that I was "excessively speeding and driving erractically".
Unbenounced to me, a unmarked police car passes me going the opposite way on 7 mile (I saw the lights and knew it was him). He turns around and eventually catches up to me and pulls me over. He comes up to the car and asks me why I was drivng crazy. I told him I wasn't and I make perfectly legal driving maneuvers. He THEN ADMITS TO ME that when he passed me I was not speeding and I made a correct lane change. Unfortunately, when he pulled me over, I had expired tags, expired license and I couldn't come up with my new insurance (which just came in the mail).
So he comes back and gives me 3 TICKETS worth $275 dollars. He then says that if he had seen me on the road he probably wouldn't have pulled me over at all, but since some dumb B*TCH called, he "felt obligated to do something".
Okay, so I know I am in the wrong for expired plates, and my reasons for that will most likely fall upon deaf ears of the magistrate, but how dumb is it that someone can call the police and say that ANYONE on the road is driving crazy and then get you pulled over and NITPICKED so that you can't afford your summer classes anymore....
Geez, looking back on it, I probably should've pleaded with the officer more or told him that it was one of my friends pulling a prank.
Anyway, please respond with your comments and/or criticisms.

my mom told me if i didnt have anything nice to say dont say anything at all....... so i will leave all my dirty cop coments out of this.... but i have had a similar situation and it always makes me wonder...... did someone actually call....or did the cop see some "young punk" with a nice fast car, and since he was pissed he couldnt get ya for speeding he made up an excuse to pull ya over knowing that if he looks hard enough he can find somethin to ticket you for. Just food for thought from a conspiracy theorist who has a major problem with authority (only because it is abused far too often)

My Dad had the same problem due to a mixup at the Secretary of State. They said our 95 Z28 was actaully our 2000 Blazer expired the tags on the 95 Z after we traded in our Blazer. All he had to do is show the magistrate that he had the tags and proof of insurance and they let him go! Maybe you can go to the cashier at the court house show her the stuff and she can write you off.
Though past experiences I know that Livonia is notorous for throwing away points and just taking making you pay a fine. Because they don't get taxed on that money and they don't have to the city. Same thing as Westland.

funny thing about people and cops. everybody talks bad about them till you need onw. that lady probably saw that you got stopped and actually felt good about it. she thought she was going a good thing.
now the reality is this and being a cop i will speak freely. usually when people call in and make a complaint like that the car is no where near were the call came in. unfortunately for you right(or wrong) place at the wrong time.
getting nitpicked is up to the officer. the insurance ticket is mandatory, no officer discretion allowed thier. you plates, how long were they expired and also with your D/L?
the bigger thing you need to worry about is getting those fines reduced. bring your insurance card in that said you had insurance that day. that one will be dropped. get you dl and plates updated and you may get them dismissed. depends on the judge.
just a helpfull hint

Hey i forgot to mention....where u said you wouldnt be able to afford summer classes u migh wanna try and use that one to get some of that crap dropped or reduced, and even if they wont do that for you if you cant pay the fines right away i think they have to set you up on a monthly payment plan(thats what they do here anyways). And BP i hope you werent offended by my comment I admit that police are deffinately an integral part of any society, and most are fine individuals..... its just that i have had some experiences that were IMO a bit shady on the cops behalf, and you usually remember the bad things not the good.... It also seems to me that the smaller the town your in the cops have more free time from responding to real emergencies to be dicks to people who dont otherwise deserve it....
