I would ask that question to Star Tribune or one of the local TV stations' web sites... I don't think they would add any bias to an answer

BS I drive Tractor-Trailer nationwide. I'm not going to get on a soap box here because I can tear your argument apart on anything you want to say.
But I'm am going to say the Big Trucks are targeted & fined a hell of alot more then your little speeding tickets.
stop cryin, if your car got broken into or stolen, you would be callin the cops so damn fast, so you got to take the good with the bad, if they didnt do random "checks" alot of drunks and druggies would drive around without notice to them

They don't have "Quotas", they have "goals and objectives". And yes that is from the mouth of a law enforcment officer.

If you have a sports car, from what my dad is told, if things seem odd, and they are tailing you, for example, it probably comes right down to the officer's own prejudices

thats how it is allright . i know the last one is bull .because i was watchin the speedo this time ... butt it comes down too there word ,we all know they have there camaras runnin so they should have too bring that too court [the way i see it ] if they had the proof , and ic ould see it id bee allrite with that. did anyone see the paper last summer of the biker they stopped that [they said ] was goin over 200 plus on his bike .....? many bikers said it couldnt bee done , even modified .. i wonder how accurate they are [radar ] that is ... anyone know what happend with the biker ? last i heard he was fightin it......
thats funny that i have prejudices, against sports cars, ill put a pic up soon of my cars, and my bike, and we will see if you still think i got prejudices, bc i know the vette will clear 180 and my bike well over 200 if you can hang on long enough to get it there

That said, we might as well call cops for the least little thing, if we didn't, our tax dollars and our fine dollars wouldn't have a chance to do anything for us. Hell, the more you get pulled over for little things, the more you should call them for little things. If they're not going to be doing their job anyway, they might as well be not harrasing other drivers right?
I think it has more to do with the environment. Where I grew up city cops would pull you over for going 4 (FOUR) miles per hour over, and I got pulled over one time while I was driving to the emissions place (around noon) right when I got my car for not having a valid ( I had my stickers, just hadn't passed emissions yet) registration. I was doing nothing wrong (endangering the public or even being a nuisance), the cop just decided that she should run my plates (even though I had proper stickers) How stupid, she could have been out protecting the public (and if there is nothing to left to protect they should be fired or put on a different shift) but she is sitting there with me on a backroad.
On the other hand, I go to school in Flint, MI (read : Little Detroit) and the cops seem to only have problems with murderers, rapists, and crackheads. I feel safer not seeing them hidding on streets waiting to get somebody for driving too fast because I know that they are actually busy dealing with CRIME.
Two more things;
1. State Troopers are useless as far as "Protect and Serve" goes. They patrol the Interstate (or worse yet park on the side waiting to cause an accident) and write fines for people who drive too fast or didn't signal a lane change, what a waste of my money.
2. Parking tickets are outrageously huge in my city, and it is just uncalled for (230 or so for parking in a handicapped spot, not that I did it, but as an example)There should only be one form of parking ticket and that is double parking. Who cares if I'm parked on a city road or parking lot for too long (i.e. parking meters and such) , I was there first, other people will find somewhere to park. Also, why do I care if I got a better place to park than somebody who is handicapped. If they are so disabled that they can't walk or wheel themselves to the door, they shouldn't be driving and should have a friend drop them off at the door. No, I don't fell sorry for them, and I don't understand why our government sees them as needy. Every disabled person I have ever talked to doesn't want people to feel that way.
Also, little trick I heard from both a sheriff and a city cop. If you're going to be out driving drunk (which you should never do, because that is a crime since it is physically dangerous to other people) keep a small PLASTIC bottle of unopened liquor under your seat. When cop comes up and tells you to roll down your window, You show the unopened bottle, crack it and slam as much as you can. For a little more insurance you then light up a cigarette as he is in his car checking your ID and everything That way, you have a very strong arguement that you weren't driving drunk (since they can't prove it) and you get away with a somewhat less serious infraction. The cigarette is just a little added insurance cuz they have to wait a while since your breath will be too hot for a lot of breathalyzers, and the plastic bottle because you can get fined for having a glass container in public.

I'd gotten pulled over where I live, gone to court, gotten my new license, insurance, etc. Despite this , two nights ago, while riding my BMX three blocks to work and back at lunch, I was pulled over by two cars, in all. The police informed me I need lights, which is logical, but that I ALSO needed to get a license for each bike I owned to drive, er, ride it on the sidewalks and streets! I mentioned this to coworkers who are aghast. I was told Minnesota 'will get you any way they can' by the officer, who seemed to know me from my last infraction, however, I wonder if this is only Hopkins, where I live?!?
Anybody heard of this? I'm still in disbelief but driving instead of riding due to this 'requirement'. It saved me gas for one thing.

No ticket, but when I do go to the police station to take care of the matter, I'll be sure to ask them why this was never brought up when I was 5 years old riding my bike with training wheels?!
It is pretty sad, but it also appears bike theft is a concern. I've had three stolen in about two years
I'm snow bound now due to winter catching up with us now, as you may know being in Minnesota, we got DUMPED ON!

anyways you all need to understand that if troopers and cops are so useless, trying to cathc speeder rather then rapists, dealers, etc. etc. then think about this would you like to bedriving and have a guy in a geo metro pushing 100mph past you and your family? would you feel safe? i wouldnt. and all cities/ counties have the own ordanances which are additions to state law by that county/city government. their are no quotas that i have ever heard of. i know alot of law enforcement officers. and to be honest they are some of the biggest nuts i have ever seen. and most that i have talked to/ know are pretty cool as long as your not super outta line going 150 down the road or something like that. but hey if your wrong just pay the fine or what not. noone made you speed it was your choice. and ive never seen radars that arent accurate. detectors and jammers dont work. dont complain about someone doing there job......unless they are wrong. if your gonna complain about cops doing there job then complain about everyone doing there jobs. youve had a burger made wrong for you im sure at a fast food joint but do you hate that joint now? do you not go there. anyways i know some cops are a$$E$ but not all. for all you that compalin and are wrong grow up..... Interesting article
I would feel safe having a person passing me at 100 mph, they come up on you and are gone in a matter of a few seconds. I would rather have a person passing me at 100 mph, then have a person in an SUV on the road doing the speed limit while talking on the phone or doing their make-up with 4 kids in the back.
I wonder which of these people is concentrating on driving? Sure is that little Geo Metro that is wound out doing possibly its top speed. This guy has his radio down, he's watching the road, listening for any little problem that may occur. We've all done our high speed runs, you know that you are concentrating hardest when you are going fast.
Yeah, I know most cops are crazy fast drivers, but that is because most cops can get out of it. Sure most cops are pretty cool when you're not speeding, or even going 5-10 over, but after that they aren't very cool anymore.
Yeah, I've had a burger made wrong, and I complained about that and got a free burger

Many cops would beat the crap out of you for your stupidity.
I would.
