Cops don't give tickets to cars. People get tickets, cause people do dumb stuff......

little trick guys.....most cell phones have a voice record function
everytime i get pulled over, the conversation is being recorded. i've been pulled over twice where the cop couldnt even give me a reason why. one time the county sheriff just never answered my question of why he stopped me. the other time in indiana a state trooper on the toll road stumbled so damn bad you cant even understand him on the recording.
cops will pull you over just to "check" you out, even if you arent doing anything wrong. its been done plenty of times. atleast i've never got a ticket from them

heres a hint..cops can pull you over for you doing the tinyest thing wrong.if they want to check you out they can come up with some violation..its after they have you stopped that yo have to know your right and what the laws actually say..i have been round and round with a few local dept's and troopers in court..granted i know if i did do something wrong..then i wont fight it..but if its a b.s. ticket i can garuntee that im going to have my day in court..troopers around here sure like to take the law into their own context..the law is the law of how it is written in the books they cant go and take it into their own words and meaning...no judge will allow that in court..Originally posted by pskel350

Well, I just completed retesting and getting my new license. Because my two cars I bought this year, outside of my Firebird got me in heat, I had been stopped driving under suspended license. The story is one Deville I had gotten back from impound and had gone to court about, had gotten good tabs, so I put this on the previous Deville I had bought to run short errands while it was still functioning, I hadn't completed the court requirements for getting past the suspended plates, so, though my tabs were good, they ran my plates under suspicion as I was out paying storage fees at a place I guess police scope out... Wrong place, wrong time. The first offense cost me $330 bucks approx.
The second offense with Switched plates, mind you, got me a deal from the prosecuter of 1 year probation and a $600 fine!
I'm able to drive again, but one car is abandoned in the impound along with the police confiscated plates from my new Deville so now I'm re-registering that car for road use. I can save by switching my insurance policy to which ever car I choose to drive.
The original bug-in-the-works was a driving ticket in St. Paul after a concert I forgot to take care of and missed the subsequent court date. Turns out for that I only needed to get to St. Paul to show my proof of insurance....not cash required so all in all, perfect example of the snowball of trouble building way out of control
Watch yourself....be respectful when stopped and likely the cops will cut you a break, I got to stay out of jail, they say

I remember back when I was 16, me and my friends were riding around in my Z28 looking for this chick's house. My friend was driving and we couldn't find this house, so we pull over to look for the address and a cop pulls up behind with his lights on. He said he was 'checking us out because we were suspicious.' I wasn't driving, so I didn't bring my wallet and this ***** tells me that it is illegal to not carry an ID in that part of town and threatens to arrest me. Give me a break.
Another time (same car), a cop is in the middle lane at a stoplight and I'm coming up behind him, although I'm in the right turn lane. He decides he wants to turn right and starts to pull over as I pass and almost hits me. Then he pulls me over and bitches at me for 30 minutes saying I must have been speeding while I get a total of 3 cop cars with their lights on stopped behind me. In a residential neighborhood. At 12:30 AM.
My favorite is when me and my friends stayed at a crappy hotel in a crappy part of Dallas late one night. The next day, we awake to the cleaning lady and she says "You guys slept through it. Some lady got stabbed to death in a room downstairs." On our way out, we walk by the door with all the police tape on it. Well, we leave and drive a couple of miles and the further we go, the longer the trail of police cars behind us gets, until we are pulled over in a Taco Bell parking lot. Each one of us has to get out, hands on head, and lay down while they cuff us and throw us in different cop cars. Anyway, our stories match and they let us go. We figured, what the heck, we'll just eat here at Taco Bell. We get our food and sit down and a little kid sitting with his mom next to us says "Mommy, do they let you eat before you go to jail?" Priceless. I don't fault the cops on this one though, they were just doing their job and checking things out.
It makes for a cool story though, 'Hey, did we tell you about the time we got arrested for murder?'

I had a similar incident to the passing a patrol car mention. Even if you don't physically pass, as I seem to recall I did, I didn't think I was actually speeding though maybe several notches above the posted I was in a hurry before work, don't push your luck at all...my lights were working and it was daytime. I was also stopped going through a yellow light though many times I've seen people go through an intersection AFTER the light changes to red.
The officer mentioned in the course of checking insurance and license; "What do you think I'm out here doing'? So, it's entirely possible they will adopt an attitude even though I didn't. If you try to argue outside of court, and show disrespect in that manner, you won't get much from your effort. I always oblige an officer when pulled over, you get on with less fuss and muss, I've never felt it didn't pay off in the long run. My friend Rob has gone to court to dispute a traffic ticket and in at least one case, the officer didn't show up. He advocates that approach as well, if you have a good argument/reason.
If you've murdered someone, turn yourself in

It's possible, although one time, the officer commented about how hard it is to drive a car like mine subtly hehehe
Some have the hot-rod spirit, some frown on it.
Are you referring to my license plate indescretion or driving after revocation? I was knowingly trying to get around the law, so I was VERY anxious about the second court date. I was obeying all the laws though while driving my first Deville with the suspended, switched plates... I figured I 'looked' legal.
If your car was impounded/towed, you should have been able to have it towed out of there, as I did once I had tabs for it.

I'm a safe driver, clean driving record and all of that but I'm always guilty of DWB (driving while black). I get stopped at least 3-4 times a year and never get a ticket (except 1 for driving w/o my seatbelt though). They just always want to search my car and F with me. I hate it. I guess I don't live in the right neighborhood.

Race-profiled? Take 'em to court for that.
I can imagine, there's certainly your stereotypical NE MPLS for example. While I live in the burbs, I've witnessed stereotypes in my life around here, but there is also a heightened sense of crime in black communities. I just read a quote from Gene Simmons new DVD where he comments; Money isn't the root of all evil, lack of money is... I admit that makes sense to me

That is more scary, I've crossed some strange folk while attending tech college in Mpls. I'd feel less safe living there to be honest

Not much I can really do about it. Can't change skin color or drive anything else besides a Camaro.
Are there other cars out there to drive?

Rule of thumb and moral to this story....don't DWB in an IROC!

Curious, After I bought another Cadillac, alot more right in my area seemed to show up. I wonder if I influenced someone hehe Used to be the 'brother's drove Cadillacs as the 'pimp mobiles' of choice. Just useing a stereotype for example, Do cops pull a black person over who's driving a luxury car? I guess I don't rightly know... Though I heard at one point police might check luxury car dealers for people buying in cash or by odd methods like that... to tip off catching crooks. I think the ricers may get increased suspicion due to the late night street racing craze

I don't think it matters what kind of car you drive for a DWB. There is only one requirement, being black and at the wheel. Although I have only been pulled over in our mini van twice. Hmmm...
Supreme Member
My dad seems to think the cars certainly attract suspicion, and he was talking to a retired police chief to supposedly get his facts. I tend to think Police are ordinary people too. They don't have some collective mindset other then keeping harmful people off the street
I've been stopped because they assumed I might be drunk when I may have been tired or distracted, whatever the case...they have the right to assume something might be wrong.
Anyway, I think I'd be more paranoid being in your shoes maybe, but I'm a long-haired heavy metal freak and they don't 'like our kind' either

still doesnt change the fact that you were speeding, you deserved to get pulled over for speeding. if you dont under stand the concept of speed limits i think you need to go to driving school.

racial profiling is done by many cops...but hey what about vehicular profiling? hmmm heck just because we catch the cops eyes doesnt mean that we are automatically doin something wrong... right?
heck in my truck i was picked on as well as my cars..but nothin like in my truck..once the cops saw me they remembered me..such ****** i tell ya...this was my truck..

I totally respect the cops. Except when they over step their authority or profile specific age groups. I for one got pulled over in my 73 formula firebird, for no reason. When I asked why I was pulled over. The Officer instantly got on the defensive and stated "you had to be doing something in order for me to pull you over now didn't you?" and looked in my car and pointed out that I had a little tree air freshener, dangling from my rearview mirror. She also pointed out in a gleefully spiteful way that it was an obstruction of view. At this point I was ready to jump out of my skin since it was 11 PM! There is no way in hell she saw that while I was driving, may be she actually saw past that dash mounted radar gun that couldn't possibly obstruct her view like my little tree was obstructing mine. I was obeying all traffic laws and my car was completely legal! Needless to say the $80 ticket was thrown out in court when I showed it to the county att. This was in Baxter, MN the officers name is Anne Pikar. The county attorney also told me she has written several of those tickets specifically towards younger people. Wow! our tax dollars at work! One cop single handedly ridding the streets of Hardened little tree users. Guess the Meth labs weren't running that night.

Crow Wing County was ranked at one point as one of the highest counties in the nation for Meth related crime per capita.

Another viewpoint: I am unaware in your neck of the woods as it seems in the SEastern states there is a conspiracy. Drive the speed limit and get run over by a big rig or speed for your safety, meaning , how many big rigs are pulled for speeding compared to 4 wheelers. My family state trooper says its hard to catch them and I say BS. Mind You, not all rigs but most. Might be worthwhile to vist your local clerk of court to make a comparsion.Senior Member

The pickup looks legit to me, flames aren't illegal...sheeezz hehe
As far as pigs, I never use that term. The subject of who gets chosen for a pullover, that's been discussed here some time back. Check out those Cannonball Run style races documented in the Mischief series videos. Sure, mostly imports there, but they have a nice selection of exotics driven to extremes on public roads. I got a real kick checking this series out. It's rich kids doing what you wish you could afford to do, but likely you'd jeapordize your own license

I gotta admit that cops are unfair. They pull me over mainly because they're jealous of my car, with it's moondisk hubcaps and yosemite sam mudflaps. Yep they're all jealous, because it has a sweeeeet sweeeeet shine on it......sorry but this post reminded me so much of that stupid audio clip about the IROC guy

Most states have laws that say how far out something can project from the vehicle. not saying he is breaking that law or not but its a possiblity. also exhaust might be another. just throwing out ideas,

oh come on them tires were perfectly fine..lol..at least so the jusges thought..as long as you can stick you license next to your fender and the tires dont go out past that you should be fine in mn..except troopers when they want to be jerks will give you the ticket..exhaust..naww that was never a problem..you could here my tires before the rumble of the exhaust...cops just didnt like it cause it was big and bold looking..gave them a reason to find something wrong with the truck..as goes for almost any vehicle..if its other than stock the cops will find something to pull you over to maybe be able to find something wrong with it..its just and easy quota maker for them..

Police have said in the past that there is no 'quota' expected of them, you aren't the first to suggest such a thing... This may or may not be a myth, but I have no reason to believe it really... they are out to keep the public safe, but often a routine traffic stop can bag a dangerous person...there's no way to really be sure

I heard that it was only troopers that had quotas...not your individual city officers. But that just goes to show how much of a myth it actually is
