"Day at the Drags" 6/11/05 Tri-State Raceway @ Earlville Iowa

I live in south central WI, and every year some guys from the area rent out a local track for a day. It used to be at great lakes dragway in union grove WI. Now they rented the new in 1998 track in earlville IA. Its a half hour from Dubuque. Everyone is welcome! check this site www.cbsrepair.net and click on the Day at the drags link. There is cash prizes for various things, food, camping, free t-shirt with early ticket purchase. Ive been to about 7 of these things and its a blast. i got 22 runs in last year. I was one of only 10 third gens last year, so lets show up in force. the stangs outnumber us 3 to 1. Lots of different cars running from 18 seconds to 8 seconds. There is a full handicap bracket race too. My wife raced our 17 second blazer into the semifinals, so don't worry about being the fastest thing out there....

most of the people there will be from my area here in south central WI. Its a good bunch of people and this is their 12th event and the first time at this track. We used to drive 2 hours to "great lakes dragway" in Union Grove WI. This is actually less of a drive (1 1/2 hours) Everything is run smoothly and professional, anybody is welcome if they buy a ticket in advance. (I don't think you can buy the day of) We usually see about 100 cars or so. I want to see some local cars from IA show up... Tell your friends... Most people there will be from the Monroe, New Glarus, Bellville WI area (south of Madison WI)

I don't think the track runs at night, I may be wrong. This is the first time at this venue for Day@Drags. I heard the track is quick running east to west with a slight grade for the staging lanes, so you can roll your car up to the burnout box without heating your motor up... (correct me if im wrong)
This is a new track for me. I have only run at Byron dragway in IL or greatlakes dragway in union grove WI... My car is always 2 tenths faster at Byron than union grove. I hope this track is faster than both.
The fastest car i have seen at this event was 8.4 sec. The slowest was 19 sec. After the races is a big campout party with beer and "bench racing" stories...Its a good time. Bring a bunch of friends to spectate and party. You can bring coolers and campers etc.. as long as you buy the tickets in advance.
I would like to see a large third-gen presence. The mustangs have run amok... There is plenty of horse meat and **** to feast on.. you can line up your own match-ups in the staging lanes

We have ran there since they opened. Nice people, wide open area, correct about the grade, track has always been well prepared. I haven't ran my Z there (track day car mainly) but we run an El Camino there. It has poor weight transfer and we still manage 1.7* 60's. You should have a great time. Best of luck

Everyone is welcome to attend. I want to see some local Iowa cars and what they got..... Tell everyone you know. The track sounds faster than any around here. Im hoping 12.20's or better on spray and 13.50's on motor.

Just pray the clouds keep the sun at bay, soon as sun beats on the track it's a garunteed spin fest, teflon starting line and boulders that go flying by/beating on your car that stick to your tires....enough beeotching, other than that a nice place, nice folks, I've won 9 out of 10 times racing there, but that was sanding baggin a 13 second car cuz I could'nt hook consistently. Now that it's summer time, it'll be end of Sep before that track is worth a sheeot again.

June 11th CFR has Hawkeye Nationals, so shot at $1K and getting to watch the jets/outlaws/nitro cars run gets priority over a non hooking track.

Well, i made it back from the races with some brand new personal best ET's. The day was warm and scattered clouds, with a strong cross-wind that was a bit of a head-wind at times. I hooked up great with my street tires, running 60' under 2.0 all day and 3 times in the 1.8's... i ran a 13.500 @102 for a best motor run and a 12.306 @113 for my best NOS run. Alot of guys i went with ran personal bests... I think i may visit again

I raced there Sunday, first 3 passes were identical so I was very happy with the starting line. I also like how they asphalted the pit roads 2 lanes wider, no more rocks everywhere!!

But then after lunch with the sun beating down, as always the track went to sheeot. dropped .03 in my 60's and they varied one way or the other per pass. All day at CFR Sat., it moved .004

But yes it's a fast track, wait until end of summer/early fall to come back, you wont be disappointed. I picked up .3 the last time I ever raced there, so you'll be in the 11's for sure and I'll be looking for some consistent 10.80's at least.

Need to update my record also, 10 out of 11 now sandbaggin the whole day cuz crappy starting line.
