Newbie looking for '86 IROC-Z that was his 1st car, last known to be in ILL.
I've posted this thread in other locations of this forum, i'm just wanting to make sure it get's noticed! I'm looking for a IROC-Z that was my 1st car.
Hello, my name is Ronnie & i'm from the Nashville/middle TN area.
I'm looking for a '86 IROC-Z that I was blessed & fortunate enough to have new in high school in the 80's as my 1st car.
The last time I saw it was in '90 after graduation when we traded it in on a LX 5-liter Stang.
After doing a car-fax, best as I can tell it went to Lawrenceburg TN till '99 when title was transfered to Gibson Ill then it was titled 3 more times the last known being 9/04/02 in Lockport Ill title# T2247211022.
USUALLY the citys showing title is the county seat in the county the vehicle is titled.
The VIN# to this white '86 IROC-Z is 1G1FP87H7GN169986
When I traded the car in '90, it was white with the top-of-the-line valour seats & red interior, limo tinted windows, saw-blade directional wheels & had the black & gray Roc stripes @ the bottom. Of course it had T-TOPS, & the over-head trip console & sunglasses pouch.
This was a heavily optioned car as in the material of the interior, power antenna, seats, Bose radio, etc.
I would love to track down my 1st car & make contact with the owner. If I could buy it @ a reasonable price, i'd like to buy it back.
Maybe it belongs to someone on this forum or you may know who owns it.
Please check your vin#s & let me know.
If any of you have a source that could help me track this vin# to the current owner i'd appreciate it.
When I get time, i'll scan-in some of my old pictures of it including the picture I made a few minutes before we left the house to go trade it.
Thanks, look forward to ya'lls help.
Ronnie

I'd love to have my 1st car back, but I'm sure it's crushed into a cube by now.

I'm on a mission, i've posted this in the "cars-wanted" section & another region section hoping it'll get noticed.
Hopefully people will check their VIN #s & be on the look-out for me.

got a pic by chance ? what color was it, what color was the lettering,
the county seat thing doesnt really work like that because the title places are only in springfield
which is sangamon county
no county info is on vehicle titles
and they havent changed the titles here except for a few years ago they increased the size of them to the size of a full sheet of paper, and now you sign and print the front of the title when selling/buying the vehicle, instead of on the reverse side
otherwise the titles are still virtually the same as they always have been since sometime in the 70s
before that they were real small and black and white, in which ive had a few of with an old 68 truck and such
the 84 impala i bought has an 85 title and its the old 80s style title, yellow tint color to it from age, still pretyt common actually, some ppl actually keep a vehicle that long, lol
i could scan you the differences from old to new IL titles, for fun, if you wanted :P
oh and they dont crush cars to cubes here, they all go to shredder, the most they get is vertically smashed, like sandwiches so that around 9 of them can fit on a semi trailer so they can take them to the peoria shredder, been there a billion times i know Behr and Allied shredders like the back of my hand, the mountain of vehicles and the claws cranes to pick up the cars off your trailers and put them in the pile of cars or right onto the conveyor track into the shredder
see alot of good stuff in there getting shredded, i cry almost every trip to there,
ppl will scrap anything for the 100 or so a ton, and i mean anything, you would be surprised.
good luck

As I posted under the Chicago region, i've got a possible name & address for a guy that owns or may have used to own the car.
Was ready to load pics of the car over the weekend but the site was down & i'll be @ home the rest of the week which I only have dial-up @ home. When I get back to the office or a fast connection i'll load some pictures & chat somemore.
Thanks.

I now have pictures of the car posted here:

Like I've said before, the wheels may have been changed or the color of the car may have changed but this is what it looked like back then.
