engine swap?
currently i have a blown 305tpi, driveable but no oil pressure and alot of lag on accceleration! i would like to swap it with a 350 but i have a few questions about doing this fist!
1. roughly how much would it cost to put the engine in?(with old one still in)
2.what exactly would it need besides engine and comp. to get this goin, besides motor mounts ect?

I dont know however how much $ it would take for a shop to do the labor
you could get a real good idea by simply going to a few shops and asking and see how the $$$$ stack up
save a bunch of bucks and do it yourself, if this really is not a option at least arm yourself with the right info so you can make sure all the proper parts are installed to help insure a clean swap. and a good running motor

Any smallblock chevy form the 60s to 80s will bolt in where the 305 is on the same mounts you can us ethe same wireing and computer but will need to change the chip to a 350 one and the knock sensor also as long as the engine is the same vintage as the original you should be able to use the intake system, cost is a thing you would have to take up with who ever works on it most shops charge $50.00 and up an hour and you would be looking at a minium of 8 hours to have the average shop do it probably more ..

if a shop did the motor swap it would probably be more than you spent on the car. Around here labor rates are $80+ an hour and you'd be looking at 14 hours minimum book time, not to mention most shops wouldn't know how to swap from a 305 to 350 and swap sensors. It's not hard to do motor swaps, I know a lot of guys that would do it for cash/beer/food/etc on a weekend. I can pull a motor in 2 hours and have it back in and running in another 6 hours, IF and ONLY IF all the parts/tools are present, running back and forth to the parts store for gaskets, etc takes time. Not to mention fuel injected cars have a lot more wires than the motors i'm used to dealing with.

So, are you buying a bare block? If you have no experience with cars and want to keep your cost down, find a engine for sale in a car that you can hear run and maybe drive too. You will never learn anything unless you do it. Then you can spend your money on tools. Ya got learn sometime or your experience with cars is going to cost you more then you ever want.

best bet would be to sign up for some auto classes, or find someone local who works on cars and could help you. I don't have the time to drive to bensenville to do it, honestly if you searched on this site, I bet you could do it with no experience at all.
