Hey, I've seen a few of you lurking around the boards. Who are ya and what do you drive? I see the people on other boards getting together and helping each other out and having get togethers. How about us? Also, who are the good third gen shops around here for when our cars need stuff we can't do ourself, or how about a decent paint shop in the area?

I've got a 91 'bird that i've had for about 5 weeks. She's rusty, but I'm beating that back right now. Sometime I wanna pull the 305 TBI and drop in a 350, but the body work comes first.

let me know if you want to get together sometime. there's a guy with a late 80's RS up from me, and i've seen a chick driving a firebird like mine around town and another chick in a later 80's blue camaro and seen a dude with a blue GTA with some primer on it. don't know that i've seen you before campin.

 

I doubt you have. My 'bird is a barn find from about 6 weeks ago, and it hasn't seen much time on the road since I got it. Its all black, and now has the big bird on the hood. Currently it is sitting in pieces in the driveway with the interior gutted. It'd be cool to have a B-N get together sometime, but I'm busy this weekend getting a parts car to donate an interior. Sometime soon for sure though!

 

i just got back from office depot and on the way there i saw a chick in a white RS that looked in good shape and then as soon as i left office depot i saw a dude in a 91-92 Z28 blue with a teardrop hood. his was in real nice shape. i waved to him and he seemed to have to think twice about waving back.

ok me and my cousin (he has an 88 iroc) are going to 3rdgen fest for sure on saturday. both of us will have some room in our cars if anyone wants to ride with us to come up for the event. from what i read it looks like since we've already paid and you can bring as many people as you want in your car for no extra charge then it looks like you'd be able to go for free. or, if anyone wants to caravan up i think we're planning on pulling out of bloomington around 9am on saturday morning. let me know and we will try to set something up.

 

I'll have room for one person that doesnt mind loud thumpin metal and hair band music the whole way to 3rd gen fest..

 

Great to see some fellow 3rd gen owners from Bloomington/Normal ! There are some good paint shops in town such as S & S PAINT and BODY & COOKS Auto Body.They mainly take care of collision work. I have also seen good work from ZOOKS. Alternative Auto body is next to my business and is very reasonable, plus he is an awesome painter!
I have a 1992 Z28 1LE, 1991 Z28 1LE & 1989 IROC 1LE(Needing some TLC)
As for thirdgenfest I may go up Saturday time permitting.Would be great to meet a few local Fbody enthusiasts.Glad there are more of you out there.

I have pictures but most are on work computer.I do have a 2min DVD of the 1991 1LE that is for sale.It will be up on you tube soon.

Glad to hear it. We almost lost the left front wheel on the way back . Broke a wheel stud right off....scary stuff.

yes we do need to get together for a local meet and metal jam! we kind of took the scenic route to and fro. not to mention there were a few times we had some nice fun! half the fun is coming and going!

sweet dude! so you got it all back up and running then too? when do you think you'll hvae it on the road?

 

Yeah its running very well. I need to re-stab the distributor, because its way off, and after having it running for a while I found a coolant leak at the base of the intake manifold. So after its painted the intake is coming off for a full port and polish. Hopefully be close to done by end of summer. My end time keeps movin back because I keep finding more problems.

As far as the bodywork and paint, like I said one more blocking on the left corner and its good. Its been blocked a TON of times now so it should be pretty straight. I hope so because its going to be black

im from naperville and will be home from Iraq in september i live 45 min from kankakee in my 90 camaro but now that i have the 85 and alot more power prob more like 25 min

anyway i just jump on 45/52 and take 52 untill it hits 45 and hang a right and then from there ill fly down 45 and hit Bradley/Burbonais and then kankakee in no time.....i got pulled over leaving joliet on 52 headed into Manhatten doing 126 mph in my 90 camaro....lost the license for a bit but hey, live and learn right!!! no no no old enough to know better still to young to care.....so now I slow down before manhatten and then take the 2 min drive through it and then right back to nailing it again.....i lived in kankakee for 4 years.....i would love to hang with you guys when i get home from Iraq in September and throw a few back.....and maybe hit some of these country roads up.

 

Saturday is an all chevy show at BOB TAYLOR CLASSIC AUTO.Should be some cool rides there.Maybe we can get a little local third gens together?
