Starting may 17th the Advance Auto Parts car show. At 1202 W 75th street downers grove and then every Tuesday night after. There will be door prizes and judging taking place. 300 cars are expected and this isn't a small show. So bring your cars out and let's take over the lot!

 

We need to form some sort of 3rd gen club for the Chicago area. I've been in the Illinois Camaro Club for decades, but's it's not very heavily populated by 3rd gens. MWFB is pretty much a 4th gen club with just afew exceptions.

Hello everyone. Thought I would stop reading and introduce myself. Awesome site, I have spent a 13 hour shift today reading forum after forum, good stuff. I recently purchased my first Camaro about 2 weeks ago. 1986 Z28, I believe it is the 305 5.0 but have not been able to verify this as of yet. My plans are just to make it a looker and a fun driver, I have a young son so will not be doing and racing, or drag strips. The car runs as of right now, had to buy a new alternator and battery to get it going again after sitting in a barn for an unknown amount of time.
The only problems I have now, that I know of are with the transmission and I feel like it hesitates between 40-45mph, but seems fine after this. I am hoping a new fuel filter, and some new fuel injectors might clear this up, any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I'll be there. For once I will actually have KEPT a promise.

My car has run for two solid years without issue! Thats the longest its ever gone without breaking something.

This year it will be a heads/cammed/bolt-on LT1 swap with a T56 swap.

Yeah i live in bloomington myself. Drive a white 88 trans am....only seen a couple of other 3rd gens out here.

Can't say that I've seen many other 3rd gens around here either. I drive a white 91 Formula, only during the summer though...gotta keep the rust away

 

oh join the club...only third gens ive seen around here are a orage firebird, a black firebird and like one camaro.

 

Have you done anything to your exhaust? I was trying to find a place around here that can put a new/better exhaust on my car, so far the only place I know that does a good job is a guy at don owen tires, but I wanted to look into other places before just settling. Know anywhere good?

 

realy the only thing to my exhaust ive had done was put a magnaflow muffler on and a new ypipe as they had cracks in them and i had that done at meineke for like 150$...they did a great job on it. But i know a buddy who has his own shop and can do exhaust work. If you want me to find out how much he would charge to do like a catback exhaust or anything let me know.

 

Yeah that would be awesome just to know how much he would charge for labor. I'm going to get new tires this summer, get the headliner redone and have the trunk lid repainted....so after all that I'm not sure if I'll have any money leftover for an exhaust lol But if I do I want to know how much it might cost, and see if I can do that this summer. Between paying for school at ISU and everything else..money goes out the door quickly!

 

Quite a few in the peoria area......was at a small (100 cars or so) cruise yesterday and there were at least 3 there

 

Cars looking good....I still need to make that flat sheet to cover the hole where the factory hood hold down would be. Haven't found a sheet of aluminum that large and not paper thin for it yet at a hardware store.

 

Veryyy nice cars, and peoria is a pretty easy drive from Bloomington. if you can, try to give a shout out when some other things are going on in peoria

joe at don owen is as good as they get , tucks them hi & tight with no clearance issues. there are a lot of really nice garage queens you never see in town with joes work under them!

Yes he does excellent work. He worked on 2 of my trucks and I think 2 of my chevelles. Most my gearhead friend's car's still has his work under them. Just tell him Kauffman sent ya, and he'll take care of you.

Thirdgen Fest is coming up May 26th. It's the biggest 82-92 Camaro/Firebird meet in the world and it's right here in the Chicago area.

Finally got my new trans in, I would head out to DG tonight if I wasn't working.

What's up guys? New on here, but yeah, located in Dekalb. Only 16 so no events really for me, but i have seen quite a few Third Gens out here, just some Camaros. But that's about it.

 

It has been years since I posted on here . I still have my '89 convertible that is LS1/T56 powered . I just bought a fairly rough '91 RS coupe that I plan on drag racing so a renewed interest in thirdgen.org, the site where it all started . I am down in Southern Illinois and just taking it easy these days ,became an admin on LS1tech a few years back. They still give me grief about my obsession with these cars and I have owned a 4th gen T/A but I always come back to the 3rds. I will never sell my convertible.

Me too! I'm about 2 miles south of hucks on Rt 37.

 

That's cool . I just got that '91 and picking it Saturday. Dude said it has a popped rear wheel cylinder so we are gonna trailer it down to the shop instead of risking it on the road . You need to hit me up sometime and come out to wrench on this thing. Stripping the car down and prepping it for an engine/trans swap plus whatever else I can think of to make it a race only car.

 

Sounds like a good plan for the car, I'm hoping to make the next drive in at Fazolis next month. I work there and missed the first one due to a blown engine and then missed the one they had last Saturday because I was out've town.
If you ever see a silver TA running around thats most likely me, I havent seen any thats the same color around anywhere.
