Springfield MO Questions about the area and state

Whats the emisson laws and vechical inspections ?

Does the entire state have strict rules for cars or is their places where you dont need to have emissons on older cars.

any headaches with owning a car in this state ?

There is no emissions testing on 3rd gens, they're too old. You do have to pass a safety inspection though, which is easy. They just check for stuff like if your headlights and tail lights work, ball joints in good shape, brake pads good, etc.

Hey so are u sayin that there is no emissions laws here as in cats or just that they dont stick the meter up to it?

around here they dont do emissions testing but they check for cats and if it originaly was fi and now it has a carb they will fail it and other bs i just had a guy try to fail my v8 monza because it did not have cats i had to pull the rule book out and prove him wrong

Im switchen mine to carb and right now im runnin a flowmaster 80 with no cats. I gotta get inspected in june but some places around here are a lil "relaxed" on what your supposed to have

If you go to a Midas, Dobbs, or any other chain of shops that does inspections, they're going to fail you if you remove any emissions equipment that was originally on the car. But there are some small privately owned shops around the state that will close their eyes when they do the inspection, if you know what I mean.
