My $50 Firebird

T-top blew out while driving, brother didn't latch it in.... last time ANYONE ever drives my car.

Bondo on the ground effects .... idk

Passenger side T-top

Back-window is perfect, but the defrost and brake light don't work? bulb is good?

Yes i know, its not the 91 front end, neither is either fender

Driver side door sags... door hinge is bad.

It doesn't stay up, you have to hold it up for a min and then if the car moves even a little... it falls down.

Light works some times.

Carpet sucks, but all the plastic is new.

You got that car for 50 bucks? If so nice score you can part it out and make back your money 20 times over.

I totally understand. My only money for my vert comes from selling all my old firebird parts. If you get the money and are still interested, let me know. I might still have it.

Re: My $50 Firebird
If you've got bad oil pressure you may not need an oil pump. The oil pans on these cars are ridiculously low and are prone to dent exactly where the oil pick up is. Basically look under your car and see if you see a big dent in the rear of the oil pan. To fix it you'll still have to take out the oil pan, so you might as well replace the pump (they where only $30 when i replaced mine).
I'd also fix that rust on your firewall asap and figure out where the water leak is coming from. If that section is rusted out that usually means water is getting down to your floor pans which is NOT kool.
Good luck man, hell of a car for $50.

Re: My $50 Firebird

T-tops are expensive even in yards, they want $29.99 for each but still, no need to steal them. Granted I do pocket small things like sensors or emblems from bigger yards but jesus no need to be that cheap
. What do they leave the yard open when they close? Most here will require you to do a good climb over a fence to get in. Still does not mean alot of people don't do it, I always see people throwing things over fences and when leaving picking it up and driving off. Sometimes its over the smallest things that arent even worth $20

Buck up & pay for what you need & cut expenses on wants. Don't steal to support your needs. Of course, the t-tops look like they were just a want anyways. Scratched doesn't mean that something HAS to be replaced. Senior Member

Re: My $50 Firebird
i dont know how expensive the yards near you are but hell around here the t tops are 100 a pop. hell for a BARE SPINDLE THEY TOLD ME 125. THATS WITH ME PULLING IT. DO YOU REALIZE that most of these crooks pay 50 for the cars then make 20x that in parts. then they scrap the rest for even more. my old friend worked for an insurance company selling the " totaled cars" with nothing more then a scratch on them. they sold these cars to the yards for anything between 15 and 75 dollars!!!

100 each? Very hard to belive if so, then why even consider them since most here would sell for that much shipped for the pair.
I have 8 yards I always go to and I have their number, price sheet for each. All range from 5 miles from me to 55 miles. On average T-top price is $30 with highest being $40. Spindles are $14.99 or $24.99 w/ Hub here and thats not the cheapest on my list. As for what they pay for yards, the small yards I visit alot are the ones who pay less and last time I was there, they were giving $150+. My uncle himself got $300 for his beat up 94 Sentra from PicknPull (Picknpull.com). As for profits, Thats how yards work, most of the small yards here are just self turned in junkers while bigger better known cars are all from insurance junk cars. Word of advice, get along with some of my people, fellow Mexican yards are 3x cheaper than bigger yards. Just look around.

that's the easy (and fateful) way out. if you've got the money and time, go for a challenge and experience that this car will provide.

Very good pick-up for the money. I am restoring a 1991 as well, good luck.
Re: My $50 Firebird
You paid $50.00 bucks for that car?????.............what'd you do? make him an offer he couldn't refuse? Michael Corleoni style? lol
J/K. heck of a deal. and it was running too? you stole that one but good for you. ( I was referring to the car, not thwe T tops as that's not my business ).
But on that note, ( without judging you or anybody else ), ill gotten gain doesn't do anybody any good, point in fact. but anyways, take your time, save your money, tighten your belt, make deals, and get things done one step at a time. it's not a race and you want the end product to be right when it's done. believe me, I'm on a shoe string budget too, so I know what it's like when money is tight, but it'll come. just say a little Prayer, and Believe and see what comes your way.
besty of luck to you with it. great car for the price. it shopuld really be nice when you're finished with it.
