Hi everyone, I'm yet another story of one that was here, then was gone, and now am back! Still have my high school car, '92 RS L03 A4 bright red, black interior T-Tops 3rd owner and owned since 2003, 77k miles on it now. I did the typical kid crap to the car... shift kit, shorty headers, ratchet shifter, tach, etc. and now I'm kinda about it. I've started acquiring some parts to put it back to original, but its gonna have a 350... I didn't have a good place to store it for a good batch of years... got married and I kindly gave my wife the other garage stall. It got stored in an open front shed... as far in the corner as i could put it with the best car cover I could buy for it. It got mice in it, not terrible but it did. Last time I started it, it came down with the typical heater core fail so I got the green pond on the passenger floorboard. It's pretty solid still and someday I hope it looks stock again except for the 350. I'll attach a pic of it... dirty... after we moved and it landed in its new spot, at the end of the post.
Part 2 is a question
Yes I did some searching, its been a while since i manipulated the search function so I'm sure the answers are somewhere but I didn't find quite what I wanted in 30 minutes.
I always wanted an IROC and if I am really being picky an '88 convertible medium orange or dark red M5 IROC with the gold wheels/tan interior... which I gather is a total unicorn. I've been sort of looking for a couple years now, something to drive while I work on the 92, and a fun weekend, fair weather car. Recently I have come across 2, somewhat local convertible M5 IROCs for sale. Both are black, G80, G92, J65 cars. One is black with grey interior and silver decals, silver wheels, repainted, 80k miles. The other is a little more curious to me and the one I have the question about. Its got a few more miles on it ,115k, black original paint in good shape, tan interior, gold wheels, but no decals, and no DX3 on the SPID... The ad says they have original new decals in GM packaging. So this means that either its repainted and they have stickers... which I don't think is the case.. or maybe someone told the dealership to not put the stickers on when it was new? Did they sticker them at the plant or did the dealers do it? And if they are the original stickers from '88 would they still go on, or is the adhesive probably junk 36 years of being in the box later? Also, is there a few very particular things I can look for to make sure its real? Do you see many faked IROC's? Seems like it wouldn't be very easy to do but I don't know. Lastly, knowing I didn't give a ton of info, does anyone have an opinion of what either of these might be worth, considering them to be in above average condition?
Thanks for reading if you got to this point, glad to be back.
