rhode island safety inspections
for the RI safety inspection..... do i need a horn or a shift indicator (i don't have one thanks to my new 4th gen console)

it all depends on the station I guess on whether they check it or not. Better safe then sorry. Could always get a plastic rubber ducky and stick it under the horn button. ROFL. Theres ur horn. lol

I'm a RI inspector. You definatley need the horn. The shift indicator light is not a requirement.

Inspections are done twice a year. Safety and emissions are done at the same time. There is no visible inspection, at least I never do one. Basically if it has good tires, good brakes, lights, and a horn it then rolls over to the dyno and has the sniffer shoved up it's ***.
Liability insurance is required by law. There are still a ton of people who drive with out it, because it is real easy to get away with it in RI. That makes uninsured motorist coverage a good idea.
There is a club I belong to in the Massachusetts/Rhode Island area you should check out if you are going to have any free time on the weekends. Good bunch of guys.
