TPI Chip Burning

What do people do for chip burning in New Jersey? I don't want to burn my own chip, there is too much to learn.

I looked into PCMFORLESS but the won't do supercharger tuning blindly over mail order, he would have to dyno tune. That's great, but he's in Charlotte, NC, more than 10 hours away!

He is trying to have a day or two up in Central, NJ and that would be great, but who knows if that will definetly happen and when.

Who can dyno tune and burn TPI chips around here? What does everyone else do? I need this supercharger tuned... HELP! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Nobody gets their TPI chips made for them based on dyno tuning around here?

PCMFORLESS is not an option for me because he won't do SC tuning through mail order.

The only other options are (a)finding someone with a dyno and TPI chip burning equipment up here (b)learn how to do it myself (c)get a fully tunable DFI computer?

Option C was presented by a place called East Coast SuperCharging. I asked him what he would do to my car if he put a SC on my car, tuning wise. He said nothing unless I got a fully tunable DFI computer swapped in, then he would tune it. He says he only tunes LS1's because they are tunable.

Any help on where I can take my car anywhere in the reasonable NJ, NY, CT, PA, DE area to get a dyno tune would be excellent.

I am getting codes 33 and 44, both pointing to lean mixture.... I am dying to get this thing tuned and running to its potential.

smokefan,

That is great. This is exactly what I am looking for. I am willing to take a drive that may be a considerable distance, however it would have to be within reason. I would do something in NY, CT, PA, DE, etc, but Charlotte, NC... we are talking 10 hours there. I will see if I can pick that magazine up.

Anybody else know of any places? Surely I'm not the only one that wants dyno tuning and doesn't have the equipment? Let's get a thread going here full of places that have the resources to do this, so people can search and find out.

Any tuners in MA or NH I would certainly pay for a good dynotune.

I'm down to go to PA. If that is what it takes, then that is what it takes. What is that place's number? I couldn't find that magazine anywhere.

I'll see if I can find out. The only Mustang Dyno place that I know of is in White Plains, NY and the guys there said they have used him before, but lost his card. I think we have both heard of the same guy because the Chassis Dyno guys from White Plains said he was good. I can call them up and see if they found his contact info.

All I see is imports. CT is close, but I don't want to waste my time and money driving there to find out it is a bunch of a$$clowns that don't know anything about my car.

found another one.

As far as the one in CT. I guess you would have to call and see but i'm willing to bet they can do a domestic TPI. It's worth investigating.

Looks better. Can't be that far either since it is in MA and even Boston is only 4 hrs from me. Maybe if we find a place that does TPI PROMs we could all go together and get a discount or something.

For those who might just want to send out for a chip they seem to be pro GM.

That seems to be the verdict about mail order chips, but it is better than nothing especially if you don't have a heavily modded app.

Am I in the "heavily modded" category? I have a ZZ4 topped with a stealth ram, the ZZ4 heads ARE aluminum L98s. Cam specs 208/221 .474/.510 112 LSA.

So you are saying I am in that category? I can tell I need a tune though from the way the top of third gear is. Don't let this thread die!!!

not for nothing but i have a tune for my car that was mailed ordered. i did some datalogging and the tune was a little better but i do need to get it on a dyno to fine tune it. i have a 383 HSR, AFR 180's, .510/.503 lift with 1.6 rockers. if you want i can email you the tune but if you dont have a burner you need someone to burn it for you. let me know,

SLP is in NJ, has a dyno, and I believe they burn chips. As a matter of fact they have a separate SLP shop which handles performance work and labor.

Also, just about every issue of GMHTP magazine advertises companies in your area and state which specialize in GM EFI performance, chip burning, and dyno work.

I only wish it was that easy for me...

I spoke with SLP about this and they said they do not do any custom dyno tuning. They only offer their different off the shelf chips, stage 1-4 I believe. While this might get some of us a little bit closer to being in tune, it won't get it right because it is off the shelf.

I thought of them as well but figured they would likely charge double what most places would. I really would like a place that would dyno and tune it on the spot, mail order stuff just seems too hit or miss and trial and error.

where in my statement is there a suggestion to mail order anything? You Don't want to deal with the shops listed in GMHTP magazine? I thought you said you wanted someplace that could burn the chip and dyno your car at the same time.

I assumed that the GMHTP ads were for mail order tunes. I stand corrected.

I've been thinking the same thing. The closest I've gotten is a PM on camaroz28.com from a guy in PA who says he does it as a hobby.

would you consider a drive to PA? Alvin from www.pcmforless.com goes to different locales to burn chips on dyno days, as well as he is based in PA.

this is the place he burns for close to him: http://www.jds-high-performance.com/contact.htm

He did an awsome burn for my car on the first try, I still have to get him some scans and it can only get better from here. He has done well where I couldn't.

This is probably the same guy I heard of, if so then he comes up here every now and then. As it is that place is only 121 miles from me and I'd be willing to head down there for a tune before spring, weather permitting.
