I drove my brother's car today, and pulled over for failed inspection.

My brother renew the NJ registration, but he couldn't inspect his car because inspection service was closed. His inspection was expired 3/2010, and he thought that he wouldn't get pull over as long as his inspection expire date is not more than 30 days.

But I got a ticket for failed inspection which is $130. Is it possible to avoid to pay the ticket if I present a proof of my brother's renew inspection sticker?

In TX, you have like 3 or 5 days grace period to drive with an expired sticker. Beyond that, you are SOL here.

 

Happend to me this past October here in NY. I just brought the receipt/proof of inspection to court and it got it dismissed. Just pleaded not guilty. I would just call the issuing department and ask them if that would work for you, thats what I did. When I went to court I just presented them with my reciept and I was gall good. didnt pay a thing. I was about two weeks expired and hadnt realized. That wasnt why I got pulled over. I was tired and in a rush one night and ate a red light not even thinking.
