I didn't even catch that you were thinking of a 3.4 swap. Anyway, I agree with what others have said, put in a V8 if your going to swap anything and go through all of that trouble. Go V8

whats up Im terrell enjoy your stay
if your gonna swap a v8 would be best, but if you want a v6 I would go for the 3.8 it much better, bigger aftermarket, and I hear the heads are similar design as the vortec's. good luck with the swap

GM crate motor is the way to go, that's what I did. They have a awesome warranty also. Glad to hear you are in Sac, now we have another person to cruise with us on the weekends. What's your real name? My name is Will.

Crate motors are cool and all, but they have the crate motor cost associated with them.
I always end up finding a previously rebuilt motor for cheap, getting a good core rebuilt or building it myself.
Might take a little more time, but it is cheaper in the long run. The real big plus however is being able to put whatever the **** you want in it.
Say you buy a crate motor, but want to swap the cam / intake, then u need the heads done for new springs etc. etc. when you could have done that from the get go with a nice core.
Just my
