Cool thread.

'89 GTA - Purchased June '02
3 years - 15K miles later. ..
Car = 5
Parts/labor/toys = ~5

I've got 10G's into this baby!
Will probably spend 5 more at least, before I'm satisfied.

$2800 for the car last July ('04).
  • ~$3K for tires, shocks, rotors, pads, paint, battery, hoses just to get it streetable.
  • K&N Open Element: What was that cost Travis? About 25 bucks?
  • TDS Wonderbar - 70 bucks or so?
  • Stage one ECM: 70 bucks
  • $160 for the Edelbrock Strut Tower Brace.
  • Ulltimate TBI mods - free
  • Flowmaster 80 - $100
  • Corvette servo - $16
I wish I paid more for the paint job, I really do. I'm saving up for a new top next year and I am looking for a deal on some GTA wheels.

Del, you got one helluva stable. That GTA is really sweet and I want to see it in person. Looks like i am the one with the cheap car in the bunch.

Thank you sir. I wish I still had my '88 Firebird too.
I had about 10G's into that including the car too.
I'd say for 6.5G's, that's one nice and rare convertible you have.
I just sold my GTA wheels last month, doh!

I might just take those honors

I bought my car for $600 and it was a basket case compared to what it is now. I'm still nowhere near completion, but I've probably got about $4K into it already. I bought the car in Jan. as a rolling chassis parts car.

**** yeah bro!!!!

The previous owner was this close to giving it away to the scrapyard AND IT'S AN ORIGINAL BLACK ON BLACK 5SPD IROC-Z.

I mean it has a nice dent on the passenger quarter panel, and it was missing a lot of crap, but damn does it look good now.

Needless to say I did the slow-motion NnNnnnnnOooooOoOoooooo and got myself a great car and some fun stories.

Like the one when my Panhard Rod came off on the freeway when I was doing ~120 MPH

Well bought my camaro for 2800ish bucks (Good interior, Good body(no rust seen on body) The paint looked good when i bought it (slight clear coat chipage), Engine was in preatty decent shape needed some new vacume hoses here and there (pluged some places up since i dont know where they lead to) Since then, Ive invested around 200-300 dollars to get the car up and running how i wanted it (New plugs, wires, cap, Oil, carb cleaner, Engine degreaser, power window moter, AC regarged only to have the compressor blow a week later ect)

A/C macy's smay-c, who needs it, out in CA it's called roll down your windows.

Or for those with T-Tops like myself can have the best of both worlds.

My point exactly!

We had an '87 GTA which we sold recently and never used the AC once in the 5+ years we owned it.

Well,I bought my 84 t/a with the l69/5 speed and 3.42 gears about 6 years ago from a friend for 200 bucks with great interior, couple of dings on the outside and a knock.Knock was a dented oil pan($50 fix) put some ported polished l69 heads, crane cam, edelbrock performer intake and carb, msd distributor. It was black but I sanded and primered it grey, nothing special.I traded it for a $3,800 4runner 1 1/2 years later for my wife.

I bought my 87 in Vacaville in Nov.03 for $2,000 with great interior (ripped dr seat)but otherwise perfect.Mismatched headlights, warped areo wing, and oxidized and flaked clearcoat paint.I spent 400 on a compressor and 400 on paint supplies to bring the paint back to life.I bought all new sensors, relays(just incase),New distributer(the car cut out and stumbled above 3000 rpm with old one).I bought a gauge pod with a couple of gauges for $150 and a stereo system for $1,600.I then sold the car for 2800 .

I bought my T/A for 5k, I've put about 2k into it in maintenance/a few mods.

Whenever I buy this truck, a whole lot more is going into it.

1991 Firebird - bought wrecked in September '98 for 1,500

about 15K in mods (most over the last three years) -- 20+ if you want to count up all receipts from shops, services, fluid changes, balances, alignments, etc.

I don't even dare to add up all the money I've spent on the tools I needed over the years to accomplish all I've done.

$ in mods, $7,000, wish it was faster and looked like I had that kind of money into it, all of that money has gone to mechanical issues so far.

Yeah Will bro your car really stands out, as much crap as I give you about the Crossfire, it is a testament to GM and yourself that yours is still running and lookin' so clean!

Thumbs Up from the Dezzl-a-nator

It's all good Vin, your car will be sweet once it's running, it's worth the down time for now. Your car will make mine cease-fire injection.

Hopefully not "cease-fire", but it should be a touch faster.

Just a touch
