new here with questions
Im lookin into getting a 3rd gen, of rather specific parameters. I live in the Bay Area and go to school in Santa Barbara. I need a car before next summer. I was curious how available a 305 (preferrably TPI) with a 5 speed is (preferrably an IROC, but any Camaro or Firebird is ok). Should I start searching now? Are they easy enough to find where I live or go to school so I can put off searching until later?
Anyway, I plan to build the car into a street legal road race car, perhaps with an LT1 in the near future... I hope to spend some more time here in the near future.

the LB9(305tpi)/T-5 car would be hard to find. I was looking for one a while back and most where low mile cars that where $10,000, or they where tbi cars. you could always swap in a manual tranny its not to hard

what about a tbi or 4 bbl? I dont really want to convert to a manual, unless its a 6 speed. So I'd at least want to start with a 5 speed.

if you dont care about performance, sure go with a tbi or 4bbl, if your set on the 5speed though, stick with 89+ they get the world class T5, which supports more power if you plan a lt1 swap in the future, you will like it.

if i do a lt1 swap ill buy a crashed 4th gen so i can get a 6 speed, clutch mechanism, and a bunch of other goodies too... I'm just curious how long it will take to find a decent v8 5 speed...

do you really have to push us tbi guys around ALL the time?
