Aw, my digital camera is residing with my step daughter, if I can get it from her I'll post'em up.
One thing I can say though, is although the paint isn't as shiny as your "memories" thread, the body is in a lot better condition.

Excellent: $5,150
NADA:
Low: $5,000
Average: $6,226
High: $7,100
NADA Collector's Book:
Low: $10,675
Average: $12,200
High: $15,350
I told the kid to take a hike in my last email, no way in ****ing hell am i doing a straight trade.
The car is staying for sale at $7k - I'm in no hurry. I will however give someone a bit of a break on trading me a thirdgen - that is, i'll give them slightly more than it's worth. I only wanted $3k from that kid plus the car.. that's more than he would have ever gotten for it and you all know it LOL I even told him there's no way I'd pay more then $2500 for his car.
On the plus side there's a few people coming to look at it today - one of them is a car collector

actually by playing around with the miles i cant get it to deviate very much, not more than a few hundred dollars. I'll tell people it has a rebuilt engine and tranny, I really don't care. There's nothing wrong with the engine anyway.

$6500, sounds like a deal, hope it works out.
In my opinion the 70's camaro's are the ugliest piles of sh*t on the road, they couldn't be more white trash, especially the early ones. I mean what the fu*k is up with the front end styling, and the rear looks like sh*t. You better get a mulet to go with that 2nd gen, lol.
Don't settle for a 2nd gen just because you want something now, wait and get a nice 3rd gen. This is all just my
though, to each his own. Good luck either way.

lol, ya they are the sh*t all right, piles of sh*t that is. They don't even look like a sports car or hot rod. They look like a juiced up 4 banger, and their interiors just scream 70's. At least the 3rd gens looks outside and inside will always be timeless.

Well said, I personally do like a nicely done 70-73. The 74+ are just FUGLY to me, not to mention the fact that they are smog dogs.
But the chances of finding one that hasn't been surfed over a few islands / used in a bank robbery / jumped like a bad dukes of hazzard impression / has a bondo repaired sunroof and/or 50 rust holes / IS TOUGH!
Also, if you look at parts avaliability for 2nd gens, it is crap compared to a thirdgen now.
I'd rather get a CLEAN IROC for $2-3500 and drop $3k into a sweet 400+cid smallblock and know that my car looks better / handles better / is faster AND a million times easier to find parts for. Not to mention Fuel Injected from the factory! (Sorry carb guys *coughJesse)
Can't beat our beloved thirdgens in the "Bang for your Buck" category.
Hell I got mine for $600

Yeah this one is a 70 1/2 split bumper. It looks ****in tight.
I should be concluding the sale today hopefully, if it doesn't fall through.
I'm split between the 2nd gen and doing my original thirdgen plan.
Also I'm picking up my block today from mike. 4 bolt main 010 woooo!

Been there and had the '70-81 Camaro's.
First was a 701/2 Z-28, Yellow with Black stripes, LT1 with a 510/520 Crower cam, ran strong for it's day (late '70's). Parked it next to a haystack and the rest isn't worth mentioning. One of the the best body styles of the Camaro...I didn't much care for the Firebirds of the same era.
Next two were a '78 then an '80, both with the plastic bumpers, both ugly and gutless, but handled real good after some work.
I agree after '73 they got kinda ugly, but if you were into road racing they could be made to handle on the cheap.

The '70 1/2-'73 Trans Ams/Formulas with the 400/455 and hood scoops are my favorite Pontiacs of all time actually.
I hope to own one someday.
Through '73 are the more desirable/valuable body/motor styles for either them or the Camaro.
The oil embargo and emissions standards changed everything after that year.
The later 70's Bandit Trans Am is the only other 2nd gen that most people like, mostly due to the Smokey movies, but it's definitely not on my list.

My sister went out with a guy who had the '78 or '79 TA, Gold with the big bird on the hood and shaker scoop, had the big engine ...musta been the 455, was the clone (execpt for the color scheme) of the Bandit car.
Interesting fact for you, when the 2nd movie came out, the car (not just Pontiacs, BTW) was so gutless, they had to run Nitrous to make a smoke show, IIRC, that car had the 326 pontiac engine, but I could be wrong...fact was though, it couldn't get out of it's own way without the juice.
At that time, there really wasn't much engine engineering, smaller cam profiles, bigger combustion chambers and smaller valves were thought to reduce emissions via less power made... thought was less fuel would be consumed.
Sure have come a long way since then, huh?
