New Motor!
hey guys in light of my recent mishap i already just picked up a new motor, 383 stroker! w00t. its a roller block with kieth black hyp pistons, eagle forged rods, cloyes timing set, some stupid cam ill replace. it has 0 miles on it, it was dyno tested though previous to shipping and its rated 600hp and safely can take 250hp more on nitrous.
now i just gotta take care of basics and i can get this **** back together

Congrats....but I would be real skeptical on running 250 hp worth of NOS on a set of Hyper pistons.....I think 150 would be the most I would even try.

it does have a crank, its a piece of **** though, the one flaw, thats how i scored it for only 600 bucks. it was a 350 crank welded over and re ground to a 400 crank.
i dunno what heads cam and intake was used to rate it at 600hp. i know the cam is still in it, ill have to pull it out and run the grind numbers on it, i do know its a hyd flat tappet cam though.
the block is of coarse clearanced and was balanced for the crank so techincaly it is as of now the 383. well.. its only .020 over so its like a 381. the block was also zero decked so jesse, remind me to ask you about which head gaskets to go with again
the engine was built to achieve 10.5:1 CR with 70cc heads.. im running 64cc heads, anyone know what CR that comes out to be?
del, i bought it from a friend of a friend, good guys, and yes, this is still my daily driver haha. till spring when i can shop for a bike
and i dont take the nitrous comment with a grain of salt, i dont think i want to run nitrous yet.. but my mind may always change.
oh yes, you may all stop antogonizing me, it IS a 4 bolt! lol
and not to mention, still a one peice rear main seal.

I think the "potential" for the new ZO6's is high 11's.
But as we saw at the track, most people that have them, can't drive them.
What are you expecting out of your new combo Travis?
Obviously somewhere in the 12's on motor.
You were close with your 13.1 before.

New motor, sweet bish! Get her done already, lol. Let me know if you need any help. Good luck and keep us updated, pics too. I am sure 12's are already in the bag, but traction is going to be a issue now I would think.

Lol, whatever guys, I see how it is. You just don't understand how it is to be married and still try to balance my own personal hobbies and interest into all of it. Don't worry Terrell, I know you miss me, you will see me again soon.

I get yelled at if I'm in the garage too long and get the silent treatment when I come in,something about,"You would rather spend time on the cars then to be with me".I would get yelled at if the cars broke down and I get yelled at for the upkeep time so I can't win either way.

I'm not married, but I know how it is to try to balance work/gals/friends/me time.
Damn Steve, that's enough to scare any of us into not marrying!

Have her look at it this way.... When you are out in the garage, she knows where you are and what you are doing....You could be out getting drunk with your buddies at the nudey bar doing who knows what after the fact
My wife used to have an issue with how much time I was in the garage until she looked at it that way...All of a sudden she actually was happy I was doing that instead of the other crap I could be out doing.Jason

i got my new engine completely torn down today. bare block baby. now i just need money to purchase the new crank, then get that **** balanced, then i can toss it together, buy a new cam and lifters, valve springs, oil pump, etc.. i dont want to use anything leftover from the old engine, bad karma. so thats why its gonna be down oh .. lets say 2 months max.

Sweet Travis, can't wait to see her run, I get the first ride bish!, lol. I bet it will be running before Eric ever gets his leaking piece running again.
Glad to hear I am not the only one who has women issues with cars, etc. I am sure it will get better as time goes on, it's all still new to her and I know we are still both adjusting. Things will get better though.

On another note.. the T/A probably won't be around for much longer. However there will be something from 91/92 taking it's place

yeah but its turning out to be more of a pain in the *** than i thought it would be. and more expensive (motor is tired, tranny is limping and the rear is clunking). at this point i can sell it and get some decent cash for it (been offered very large amounts by collectors) and sell my suburban, and end up with enough money to buy a sweet rolling chassis third and build a budget motor for it, and be able to buy a daily driver honda or some ****.
mulling over some numbers with myself and looking at parts I can get for cheap I came up with:
350 block
stock rotating assembly rebuilt
vortec heads (cuz i can get them cheap)
good carb manifold compatible with vortecs
650/750 double pumper (yes that's right, CARBED!!)
cc 306 grind cam - 230°/244° @ .50 - .510"/.540" @ .50 112° LSA
Should run pretty healthy and I can have it done for under 2 grand. I'm planning on throwing a stock T-5 behind it

I didn't realize it was that broken in and on the way out.
Well I hope you find a nice 3rd gen to take its place.

it just rolled 170 a few days ago.
Yeah the motor still traps like new and holds excellent pressure, but with that many miles she's gotta be tired. The tranny barely works - it slips and slides into gear lol and the rear clunks hella bad when you stop the car. The cool thing is I can hide all this **** temporarily in order to sell the car
It's worth money to a collector even in it's current state though.
I'm looking at this beast today:

It's a good running 91 Z with the L98. New paint.

170? holy crap, the same as Travis.
You think 5-6K if you found a collector?
Anymore than that and I'd be amazed.
How much are they asking for that 91Z, miles?
Paint and body look sharp!

Unlike the TTA, I think the 25th is just an int/ext package decorating it in blue and white decals/stripes/emblems that they only made 2000 of, which I'm sure is in the RPO.
Motor/suspension wise it's identical to a regular 94 T/A, no?
Sure a collector will want it and pay more than a regular T/A, but my point in that link is that why would someone pay a lot for a car on it's way out, when they can find the same car in much better condition with a little time and research.
If someone actually paid 7K for Tony's, I'd call them an idiot, not a collector.

The suspension was all WS6 spec stuff, but they didn't have the WS6 in '94. It was fully optioned as well, including every performance option. It also had the appearance package including rims that you can't even buy from the dealer anymore.
If I sold mine to a regular person I could get $6k for it, but I'm going to try to hold out for a better offer. The car is actually EXTREMELY clean for the amount of miles, there's only one minor flaw in the interior and the rear bumper has a couple marks. **** even the engine bay is clean as hell.
The motor has no serious problems, just miles. The car has no serious problems that I know of, along with new brakes, brand new Nitto tires, new suspension, new dizzy, new wp, full tune-up, full fluid change, oil changes always on time, many many misc. parts replaced.
If I do have to sell it for 6 I'd still end up with 7-7.5 after I sell the burban, which is more than enough to get my third and a beater honda, with enough money left over to cover registration fees.
and **** buying another 4th gen, I'm buying a thirdgen for a reason
It's a fantasy to just be able to bring a car home and first thing swap the cam shaft in it. And that's what's going to happen too

It's all good Eric, I still think I will have my new gas tank, etc. in before you fix all of your leaks. Either way my car is still legal and able to drive on a daily basis, and yours is not bish!
Tony, glad to hear you are seeing the light and coming over to the thirdgen side, lol. That red 91Z looks sweet, I like the hardtops better as well.
Good luck with whatever you do.

Polished super ram, that's cool, will look nice I am sure. Sorry about all the sh*t talking, I was just fu**ing around. You probably will have yours done before mine though. Freaking Billy is taking forever to get his lift up in his shop so we can do my gas tank and some other crap. Anyway, good luck Eric.
