well after purchasing new main bearings. and test fitting the crankshaft, thier is one little corner of the block that the crankshaft does not clear. its along the oil pan rail, rear of the block, the counterweight of the crankshaft comes in contact with the block at the corners of either side of the counterweight, not sure how much i wuold need to clear on the block to make it slide by. ive got about a lil under a 1/4" from the oil pan bolt hole to the end of the block. think its safe to file the block closer to the hole? iw ould hate to have oil leaking issues. or should i have the shop chop up my crank to make it fit, while they are balancing it all?

Travis, Check fit your pan now. I had to pound the stock pan out and the bolt near the notch was hard to start.
Don't forget the rotating assembly does stretch (very little) at high RPM's so be sure you have some extra clearance.
Looks good so far!

Did you hurt your last engine, or just upgrading? What cid, heads, cam, and what size shot are you going to throw at it?
btw I might cruise to tahoe, the paints falling off my car at exponential speed so every one elses cars will look great in comparison, I won't charge much for the photo ops!

Silver should look nice, glad to hear you are not going to go with red. Clearing it will look sweet and give it that wet look, plus it will be easier to clean up and keep clean over all, like a clear coat on your car.

Dear Travis,
I was rethinking your sig line.
I think you should put some of the main items back in your 'lil sig. pic to decrease that unsightly paragraph below your avatar, thereby shrinking the amount of space each reply of yours leaves.
Possibly advertise that mean 383/HSR/heads/cam
Just a thought.
Sincerely,
- Del
p.s. - the silver is a good idea, any color really, just to renew that old underhood of yours.
