New daily driver

hey guys guess what, im almost likely to pick up a 4th gen sunday/monday

the guy is already holding it for me, i checked it out and its clean and stock as hell.

its a 98 z28 6speed.

weather wasnt too great so im holding off on the driving part. but once i get to test drive it, and it drives well, ill be picking it up.

This will make a great daily driver for me, the iroc will still be done shortly. but now i dont have to worry or rush the project together.

6500 for a 98 Z28? ummm..

Salvage title? Drug repo? Rolled down the side of the interstate? 200,xxx miles? You got the year wrong and it's actually a clean 97?

Looks to be a fair price for it Travis.
Average Blue Book for that car/miles could be 5600-6500 options depending.
Tough owning 2 cars sometimes though.
You going to insure either?
Doesn't all that $ take away from your IROC plans?

Pretty risky if you're going to invest $6500.
Worth more than the IROC by far, regardless of which is faster.

yeah i'd definitely insure that Z28, even if you won't insure the IROC.

I would buy a cheap daily driver, like 2,000 bucks and use the rest on the iroc.

i seen it its not bad condition

small dent in the front bumper, suspension needs a little work, she runs beautiful,

it needs a good bath too its the orignal owners, that have too many cars and got too old it runs perfect when i saw it

I would've gone with a cheaper daily driver too, although I'm sure this one is nice as can be for what it is.
Something tells me the new ride would get most of your time and $ once you start to mod it, and the IROC will be a thing of the past.
Hard to argue with 10+ years of technology and a nicer quality ride though.

I would not only put $$ on it getting some mods, but that the IROC would be sold within a couple years.
Might as well get it together now and sell it while it still runs!
. ..sorry, bit cynical and would hate to see you posting more on that other site with those rich a$$-clowns. haha.

dont worry guys, i swear im not leaving the thirdgen community, i will only put a muffler on the damned thing, its too quite.

it wont be modded till im done with the iroc, i really do love the roc . and I believe it wil be worth something to look at someday.

now i can afford to leave the roc down for a few days at a time to swap parts.

so what was that awhile back about bring your beater to the track day?

yup thats my beater.. that ole 98 z28.
lol

i put 400 down today, ill be picking it up monday.

cats in the bag.

and for the price, i think they dont know what they have, since they are selling based on bb value. (del, i priced it, and got 6700)
premium wheels, multi disc changer. leather interior (no rips!) its got it all.

im just lucky to nab this one at the price

and yes its 120k miles on it.

local owner too

cool man, that's impressive pair of camaros you'll have.

as for the kbb, depends on what you put for overall condition too, could be 6200-6800, i put "good", not "excellent".

it's a great motor and has a lot of nice creature comforts i'm sure compared to your IROC.

should be interesting at the track too, a 6-speed and lack of traction probably, but still 13's.

booo
traitor*
heh.

.. .and in response to your text msg, Travis.
no way my Supra is worth more than my GTA, that's why it qualifies as a beater.
probably worth 4, where i might get 7+ for my GTA.
i'd say your Iroc is the beater compared to the LS1 at this point when you base it on value.
it has the higher miles and is worth the least of the 2.
not that i would want to race either with mine, haha.

Nice pics bish, thanks to me, lol. Anyway, nice car, I think you did a good job on it. After riding in it I want one now for a daily driver. It's a very clean car, fast, and rides and handles well too.

So if this car is a "beater", than your IROC must be a big fat steaming pile of $hit!

It's a sweet looking ride and porkyzilla already told me you like it better

You sure you can drive a stick?

Sorry Travis (4th genner ) but I'm still laughin!!!!!!

HEY!!

I shouldn't give Travis $hit.... His IROC made all the way to my place and back (long way)

I bet ya that a 175 shot and $4.5k of mods (LS6 upgrade) and the 4th gen will be faster then the stroker 3rd gen.
Spend another 12k for a LS7 and upgrade to a 2 stage N2O ($1k)or turbo ($3K) and your in the 10's.... street legal.....factory stock upgrade.

My next motor will start from the LS7 block.

I'm not a fan of the early Camaro 4th gen exteriors, they got better with age.
Can't go wrong with that interior though, just the way I'd want it.
We'll see how well you can drive that 6spd at the track soon enough I'm sure.
I'm sticking with the IROC is your beater and this 4th will be your main focus sooner than later.
