That sucks. Was it slipping before hand or did you just get in the car and it wouldn't go into third?

You know mike, I was thinking about it.
When did you feel it slip earlier in the day? 1st gear? 2nd gear? That could help us determine what the problem is. From the way you described it, it could be either some smoked clutches or a piston (multiple causes behind that). Don't worry, I can fix both! You said when you tached it out it wanted to go into third, but popped back out? When you rev it up did it drop into neutral after you let off the gas or did it hold gear and engine brake?
Also a slight possiblity it's just in limp mode. SES light on? Limp mode only gives you P, R, N, 1 and 2 on those trannys, iirc. Do your reverse and neutral work?
There are a few good rebuild kits on summit from TCI. Whatever you decide to buy, get kevlar or hi-performance clutches and make sure it comes with steels! I'm sure yours are shot. And if they weren't, don't want to reuse them anyway.
If you're going to get another TC, consider a 2400 with a better STR than stock to help put maximum torque to the ground on launch. Like I said on the phone, if the bushing in the front pump is shot, bushing material WILL get into the TC and you have to replace it then. On a tranny that old I wouldn't be surprised to see a worn bushing there.
Call me if you want, but I can't really talk correctly right now
I think I have ****in mono because I'm a **** and get with lots of girls
Maybe I'm just a hypochondriac.
