The oddest things you find..
My muffler been sounding funny, raspy, clanky, vibrations pretty bad, i chopped all my exhaust off today and when i cut the tips off the muffler, i shook it around and a retainer for the lifters fell out. lol musta fell in my Y pipe when i dissasembled my old engine. Now I know why I had to order a new one from GM since I was one short lol. so anyways, now i need to order my new exhaust setup and re use the spintech i thought crapped out on me.
anyone else have any similiar stories?

Friend of mine lost a wrench down his Y-pipe like that lol
I've lost sockets and **** and they always seem to make their way to the front cover piece in front of the air dam.
I'm pretty sure there's an 8mm socket in there right now
We found some funny **** cleaning out my 85, including the title to the car which the dude thought he lost. There was a football, some change, a dollar bill iirc, and other ****.
My '97 had half a blunt sitting in the ashtray lol

i hardly call a thrown rod "building a motor" or several failed lifters lol btw the machine shop "built" your motor lol you put heads on and had a "defective" head gasket
haha anyway its all technicall what the funny thing is that you had your lifter retainer plate in your exhaust lol thats funny
hurry up and take it to the track want to see that beast run

The shortblock is the hard/tricky/exacting part. the top end is easy as long as you know how to follow torque specs.

well i did assemble it if that counts to make sure everything clears, then tore it apart again the machine shop balanced everything and they stapled it back into the block. but either way technicality aside, throwing a rod was a stock motor, i only did the topend on a 160k mile engine, and second of all, my engine runs now and it feels faster then stock.
