Winter plans? + Summit = retarded, but makes good.
So the new 24lb Ford injectors are ready to go in when Bennie notices some fuel dripping out my Holley AFPR. Diaphragm went bad apparently, who knows how long ago, argh.
Ordered a new one from Summit to send this junk back and they send it from OHIO instead of RENO, so instead of 1 day, it's taking 6.
I guess they were out the exact day I ordered, retarded.
Too late to cancel, but the gal is sending me a $25 GC.
Anyways, what do you folks have planned for your car/s this Winter?
Buying/selling a car? New parts? Maintenance? Parked till March?
I really need to do some Supra maintenance and replace the stereo, so I don't know how much attention the GTA will get, we'll see.
After the injectors I'd like to pick up the Racetronix/Walbro kit and get some new brake pads/calipers.
A couple minor body work things are annoying me, and I'd like to get these TDS door repair kits in too, but that will have to wait probably.
I'd like to start saving up for paint too, but who knows what spring will bring.

Summit is awsome but I've run into that problem where they're out of something in Reno and I have to wait for them to ship from the other store. When I got my centerforce clutch for my runner they had the throwout bearing but not the clutch
.
My 3rd gen list is
c5 brakes
sfc's
front bilsteins
sportlines
Tubular K member and A arms
350 swap
I'm not going to mess with the engine until everything else is done because as we all know, things change and I don't want a non running car in the garage.
My 87 4runner is getting
supra maf
new radiator (hole in current one)
interior upholstry (done by myself)
May sell next spring, may swap in the lb9 from the t/a or install a ct-26 turbo.
99 4runner is getting
new tires
Deckplate mod
Brembo rotors
We might sell the 87 runner. My wife wants an Escalade or Denali as the lifted 2 door isn't practical with 3 kids, I want another 97-03 4runner limited for myself but we'll see. My t/a will be around for a LONG time as I am in love with it. I want to make it a 2 seater and install a roll cage for that curvy mountain road I drive but my son loves it and would never be able to ride in it.

Y'all should know what I am doing and aiming to be done by march.
For the sake of the post however, I picked up new wheels off ebay tonight.
Either love them or hate them.

Nice wheels. I might paint my car anthrocite metallic and paint the inside of my wheels to match but I have a hard time picturing it.

I was thinking about painting the inside of my wheels body color too and having the face polished. I see a C5 by work all the time with painted and polished wheels looks badass rolling

Some fine lookin' 3rd gens going to be rollin' around. mm hmm.
I still have my ct-26 turbo for sale Steve.
What's not to like about those Trav? Nice set of wheels for $500.
That same guy is selling my style rims for $1,000.

I forgot to add I like to read this kinda shiet.

Color matching rims doesn't look good on gunmetal metallic cars? heh.
My t/a will be around for a LONG time as I am in love with it.
I think matching colors only work well on black and white cars for obvious reasons.

winter plans for the 86 blue bird....
fuel filter, oil change, spark plugs, possibly new tires. and tomorrow the new alternator and battery are going in.
as far as the 91 blue bird...
the top end of the engine is off and in the backseat right now. haha. im not a whiz like Trav at pulling engines out in one day. pretty much all thats left are the exhaust, and accessories to remove before the engine comes out. then its pretty much goin to sit thru the winter as i choose what parts im going to get for her. as of right now im starting with the basics, gaskets, fluids etc. come ~jan-feb i should have the engine getting rebuilt. from there a t-56 and ill be set for a little while. oh and not to mention.... a two tone firebird for sale maybe? haha

My plans,
Get the car running good with the new carb
Maybe bend up some tube for a roll bar (installing a 5 point harness would go with this)
Get it ready for paint for when the warm weather returns or find a heated booth
Build a trans crossmember that doesn't hang down so freakin low like Spohn's does and will allow dual exhaust to be tucked up better.
Build a new exhaust system so it's a bit more quiet for around town driving
Buy another 3rd member with some highway gears

<-- not afraid of your "juice"
I'll let you race my GTA.
If the weather is decent, I might even sneak out to the track one more time.
Seeing that my AFPR was probably crapped out last time I went, might be worth 1 more try before spring.

i wanna go play too. I just fired up my car with the new composite gear. Oh boy, it sounds so crisp. No more backfiring from retarded timing. When are you going Del? It's good thing Eric's gear got chewed up or I would not checked mine. Sorry Eric, didn't mean it that way...hehehehe

painting rim trim to match.....
speaking of matching color trim; there's a new product that just hit the USA market for women who wanna be blonds or redheads or.... 'All the way down'. Christmas gift shopping might have just gotten a bit easier!!!!
....But, no- don't dye your butt hairs to match; back to the rims: what about all the matching 3rd Gen factory wheels that were paint trim matched to the body color?? They looked pretty good when new. I'm going to stick with my factory 16'' IROC wheels and was thinking about adding a matching pinstripe color when I change the body color over to blue/silver from the original black.
Nitro ( I know, nobody asked me....!)

May seem that way, which is true, I want all new stuff. I don't need to explain myself for every little thing about why. But I think we can all agree that I need an all forged bottom end if I am going to spray nitrous on top of being supercharged, correct? And I need the best control of fuel and timing as possible.

if I am going to spray nitrous on top of being supercharged
i liked the idea of adding a small shot of nitrous to cool it down and add more power, but the obvious answer is, just add more boost with the blower.
no need to do both IMO, pick one or the other.
A forged bottom end will hold a nice 200hp shot.
That'd be fun, can't beat the price either.
Just a quick update on my car. ..after like 3 Holley AFPR units, one seems to be holding pressure.
The car is super rich after the injectors, runs pretty bad, needs to be re-tuned.
I'll sit on it till after the new year and mull it over.

Not tryin' to influence you, just letting you know I was thinkin' the same.
I know you'll do what you're going to do.
I'm sure it'll be interesting whatever you choose.
