Does anyone in sac have a vacume pump for evacuating air conditioning lines?

 

Are you planning on just having it evacuated/vacuumed then recharge yourself?

 

that is what i was thinking, replace the drier clean the lines, replace oil and oriface tupe, just want to evacuate before i refill.

 

Are you having a problem with your A/C currently. I have never heard of anyone wanting to just clean their A/C system unless there was a problem with it. I noticed that you were replacing the Dryer. Have you already lost whatever refrigerant that was already in there? If it is just blowing warm air you might have already lost it all. Are you running R-12 or converting to R-134a? If you start removing and cleaning lines make sure you replace all the O Rings also. Technically it is illegal to just pop the lines and let the refrig goto the O-Zone. Some people don't want to pay the price to have a recycle machine recover what Refrig your system may have left so they just let it go. Unless you have someone certified in A/C recovery you just won't find a specific line for what you want. Usually 3-4 can's of R-134a will fully recharge your system.

 

It has r-134 in it, i think it is over filled. It runs cold but only at full power. I was under the inpression r-134 would not be a detrement to the enviorment if it was vented. (That is why we converted to it right?). I had a friend do the conversion years ago when i was still learning and he just dumped a bunch of cans in. The main reasion i learn how to really work on cars is undoing most of the work he did. Anyway i waswanting to take it apart, clean it and do it right. It works but not well at all. And i am afraid if i keep using it the way it is i will just burn up the compressor.

 

I agree with ibmtech. If i were you, have the r134a evacuated and replace it with r12. As long as r12 is available, i would never convert r12 system to r134a. BTW, i have an R12/R134a Robinair A/C machine at my house, in my garage.
