Back to my true love

After a brief stint with my truck sucking away all my money, (700r4 blew up) I can finally get back on track with the Camaro. The poor thing has been getting neglected. How long have yall heard me ramble about my T56? Well ****, I think it's time I finally put it in. I was watching Two-Lane Blacktop last night and it inspired me even more haha, (Love that damn 55). I'm looking around for a new rear end as I type this, and as soon as it gets here, it, and the the T56 is going in.

My Camaro has started getting pretty ratty from driving it so much. I hate it, but that's what happens to a daily driver I guess. My paint has gone to ****, and I still can't get those stupid pos headers to stop leaking. My truck has become my new dd now since the Camaro trans is just about dead. It was slipping bad all the way to and back from the Rocklin gtg. Let me tell you, 10 mpg in my truck a lot less fun than 20 in the maro!

But anyway, now at least I have a vehicle to drive while I do up the Camaro. I'm going to leave the paint as it is for awhile and get this thing to perform like I always dreamed. It's hard for me to remember when the car was completely stock. I have put in so many hours in it, and I don't plan to stop anytime soon. I have been fighting back and forth with myself on what I want it to be. Do I want something all out to blow everyone else off the road? The thought of that puts a big smile on my face. Or, would I rather build a moderately fast street cruiser? Something inbetween?

I would love to build a 9 second sleeper someday, but the Camaro was my first car, and I have decided that I don't want to get too wild with it. I'm not going to gut it to save weight, or put a 900hp motor in it. (Not that I could even afford a 900hp motor anytime soon haha.) The car is going to be so much fun with that 6 speed, I think I will leave my built little 350 alone for the most part.

My bad for going on and on. I'm just excited right now. I have had a slipping transmission in that thing for so long, I forgot what a hard acceleration felt like. I miss it.

Some of you might remember my buddy Todd? Well he picked up a Formula! Got some pics of the last time we cruised em... (I might have posted these pictures before... I can't remember.)

Once you go black, you never go back yall.

Re: Back to my true love

Cars look great and I just dig the countryside around Atascadero.

I've decided that just keeping mine on the road (wherever I am) is the plan. I'll be adding another DD soon so the F can hang out in garaged luxury. Meanwhile, I'll be saving for a nice paint job.

Good luck with yours!

Re: Back to my true love

If you need an extra hand or two with the rear/trans swap let me know. I'd enjoy returning the favor. If you need a 3rdgen fix, let me know as well. I just killed a Moostang on the way home tonight(No, I'm not advocating street racing!). I don't generally do it, but it felt good to be able to take on a newer car and pull away. Anyways, congratulations on the T-56 rebuild and good luck hunting for the 12 bolt. You're going disc on the rear, right? You may need a new proportioning valve if you swap to disc. Talk to you later, Daniel U

I am!

One of my favorite stories is shortly after I just got my IROC street worthy, had a "mileage unknown" 350 truck block in there, stock (305) TPI and a junkyard T5.

BRAND NEW Mudstain pulls up next to me with dealer plates, looks over, creeps on the light. Throws a rev. I yawn.

I don't even flinch, light flipped and caught him napping, kept his front fender at my rear bumper until well beyond the limit.

Slow down and stop for the next light, he pulls up and says, "What the hell you got in that thing man?" I answer "Stock TPI".

I made the turn laughing that his $25k car got killed by my little $600 IROC-Z

Enough of me rambling, your buddy has a nice Formy but I am partial to Black IROC'S!!!

I'm glad you will get some time to git-er-done!

Re: Back to my true love

Hey bud, I am going to call Monday and find out what is going on with my Moates order... Should have had that by now. My 57' is getting about 11 or 12 mpg right now (no better than my Yukon) but I can run regular gas in it instead of supreme... Anyways, I am hoping you can get it tuned to get much better mileage..... Let me know if you have any questions about the auto/manual swap, I remember it pretty well still. If you need a hand, I am there too...
