Made it to Gerogia
It's been a good month plus since we moved from Cali back to Georgia. Moving just sucks. All your stuff leaves you for an unknown period of time and reappears in a random state: Broken, lost, or late. In the Firebird's case, it was late.
I put her on a special sports car transport which allowed for low clearances and was covered. The driver quit or was fired in Phoenix where I think it sat in 100+ degree heat for a week. After another week, it was in Dallas and on it's way. It finally arrived and I had to meet the driver at the airport so I could swap rental for F-body. It was kinda good that it took a while to get here. The garage was full of crap forever.
Anyway... it's been pulling daily driver status like in CA here in HOTlanta. There have been a few days that have been as hot has the East Bay.
As a result, the cooling system is getting a workout. Joe, that fan switch has kept it on a lot more than when I was on the peninsula. Rocks! The other day, I lost a lower radiator hose (was expecting water pump or radiator). I lucked up.
My commute is 20 miles @ 30-45 minutes one way. I think that is average in the US (or something) but I was used to a 15 minutes bicycle ride to work. Daily driver was easy for the Firebird on the peninsula. Concerning the house, some much MORE than what we had in CA but for much less. I've had the top down on the car much more than I did in the peninsula. Very cool when the interstate is moving to do highway speeds for more than a mile. Also, 15 MPG with simplt awesome brakes. The car is rockin'. I'm shopping for a third car so the Bird can retire, wait for a sweeter paint job and do mainly weekend cruises.
That's it for me. I don't think I'll stop coming to this regional forum simply because I moved. You guys rock.

Glad to hear you got your bird in good condition. So Mike, it sounds like things are going ok for you and California is already old news
What are you thinking about getting for your new dd? Are the prices better since you're out of the expensive state? Be sure to keep us posted as to any updates on the bird. Take care.
James

Re: Made it to GEORGIA
Yeah, Famoso was hella fun. I'm sure I'll be able to find something like that near here. My sister-in-law lives near Road Atlanta but I didn't think my car is suited for that.
Performing the daily 40 mile drive to and from work is all I require at the moment.
Hey James. Have we met? No matter...
I'm looking at gently used Celicas, G6's, GTI's, Altima's, Jetta's, Civic's, and Preludes. Something like that which will average 25+ MPG in traffic. Atlanta traffic is the suck a lot of times during the rush hour but when it is not, the Firebird is my vehicle of choice. It weaves in and out of traffic with ease at speed. It has to be dry though as the drag radials -- well, you know. Right about the time I am cruising through traffic quickly, I miss that 2.73 gear. The rear disks however more than make up for that extra top end. I need it more here.
Prices here are better in some areas. Obviously housing is more down to Earth and we immediately found a 4 BR/3 BA house with a two car garage and full finished basement. My mortgage is 500 less than my rent was in CA. Gas is currently at $3.50 and groceries are cheaper. Restaurants aren't as good here but they are as expensive as in CA. My extended family is closer so that's both good and bad (know what I mean?) and I recently discovered some really good mountain biking about 10 miles from my house with more rumored to be within 30.

It was a bummer to lose such a proud thirdgen (bird) owner, but you'll always have an Internet home here on the West Side with us.

I was hoping to met you at a GTG or something else, but in just didn't pan out. A lot of people had good things to say about you and I got to know a little about you thru your posts. That's great that you have a house and saving money to boot. I hear that since you're saving an extra $500 a month you're planing to put at least half of that into the bird every month
