I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm a first year college student and looking to meet new people and learn a thing or two. Also, is there anyone close by I could connect with so I could learn a bit more?

Welcome to TGO. There are people all over. Do a search on the forum for Santa Cruz. There is a cruise on the 30th June I think.

Re: Hello from SF lol
Isn't much..actually just got the car recently, in February. has a bit of Rust on the roof area and needs new weather seals. who knows what else lol. A quick question though. I have a 5speed behind my 350 and I'm a bit anxious to drive it as I've heard the transmission may be a bit too weak for the power output of the engine. is this true?

Just drive. Your trans is fine unless you abuse it or crank up the engine power.

Re: Hello from SF lol
That sounds awesome! I'd also like to do a swap sometime, particularly an lsx motor, despite the craze of it haha but if I'm able to get my hands on an LT1 motor, ill take that aswell. LT1's are no joke when built right!

Re: Hello from SF lol
Care to share a little on the rust issue? Is it T-Top related? Does it need to be 'neutralized'?

Hopefully you'll be able to fit in the end of June cruize. I'm finishing up moving into a new house and acreage and won't be done in time; but what I wouldn't give to go!!

Re: Hello from SF lol
Your right about the LT-1 engine's. I had one in a 83 El Camino and it was a major torque monster. It wasn't smog legal anymore, and a pain to drive around town with a spool in the rear end, nor really drivable in the rain! Nitro

(An El Camino & a Camaro in the Garage=A cup of Coffee on the back deck, watching the sun come up. IMO)
