It'd be nice if someone who lived closer to Santa Cruise could go scout parking lots. We gotta figure 30 cars right?

Where are you located in the South Bay? I'd be up for cruising to the meetup spot with you. I've been wanting to get a close up of your ride since I saw your COTM write up..

Manteca/Modesto/Stockton/Tracy the exact meet up spot has not been determined. But most likely it will be at Target in Lathrop off of Louise Avenue. I will be arranging the stuff. But we are a month away still. I will make the official thread with info. so we can get it all organized.

MR. IROC is coming from San Jose. You can meet up with him. He wouldn't mind. But las time they joined in at the first stop and not from Norcal's house but I do not know what his plans are for today.

We had 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gens in attendance last year, as well as a g-body and a c5. Even though it's a ThirdGen club activity, it's nice to see a variety of GM cars.

I was planning to meetup with Mr. IROC and we were going to drive up together. Not sure if we plan to drive to Will's or to the meetup spot on Hwy 280.
I'm sure we can arrange to meetup somewhere and cruise up together.

About half of the group that comes from Sacramento and the Valley met at my place last year. The other half met us in San Mateo before actually starting the cruise. So is somewhat of a mini cruise before and after.

Re: Official 2012 Norcal Thirdgen Cruise to Santa Cruz Thread
How would everyone feel about ending the cruise at a park or similar (scenic) location this year? I've been looking for places in DT Santa Cruz that can handle the group, and I just can't find any that will allow us to park together in an orderly fashion. That being said, there are a few nice parks in the area, and we could end at one of them, do a simple lunch, and then cruise back our own ways.
Would this be something that you guys would be ok with? I figure, it's cheaper, less of a headache, and we might actually get a chance to take that group photo we've been waiting a year for!

Anything is good. By simple lunch do you mean picnic or find somewhere close and go in large or small groups?

If you guys decide to do that, that would be cool, but it would definitely tag on some additional driving to your trip. You can come to SF, or meet us at the midway point, which will be either the 84 west @ 280, or the 92 west at 280. I need to drive by the 84 west @ 280 location and see if the park n' ride lot will accommodate us.

Does anyone work for Hertz car rental, or any other rental agency that rents Camaros? I want to rent a Camaro for our cruise to Santa Cruz. Hertz charges 39 cents a mile after 100 miles and I'm trying to void the charge!!

We could take over the boardwalk LOL.... How about Capitola? There are a few large parking lots out there from what I remember and they are still close to the beach/marina settings.

Re: Official 2012 Norcal Thirdgen Cruise to Santa Cruz Thread
A park would be great, although the parking lots could be full in Santa Cruz. Maybe a Best Buy/Walmart location with a large parking lot, or even a large church that has a massive parking lot. We need to think outside the box. Do we even really need to drive through Santa Cruz? I for one hated the traffic last time we went.
Looks like the park idea will work out. I'll post locations this evening and we can figure out which one we want to go to.

The shirt is on the backburner it seems and rightfully so. I'd rather more time be taken into making a great shirt. instead of rushing it and not everyone liking it (althoug it is always hard to please everyone). Just focus on more of a nor cal third gen. and forget about doing anything with the annual santa cruz trip. and go back to the shirt afterward. IMO.
We are 26 days away, let's pick the official cruise end spot. Decide on food. (im going to burger regardless). And then we can all focus on making sure our cars are in tip top condition for this day.

Officially I've had email confirmations from about 15 people. Unofficially, we have over 30 people going through the facebook page, which includes a couple of confirmed people. Its impossible to tell how many will actually show up.
As for the T-shirts, deciding on a design has proven harder than I would have thought. So they will not be ready for the cruise.
