4 those who've installed 4th gen center console....

What do you think about the center console switch out overall? Would you do it again??? What would you do over? The reason I'm asking is that I picked up a set of real RICARO'S with full adjustable portions top to bottom. I set my driver's side on the Factory power adjustable grid and can now set up for any type of freeway or track. It's really helpful for the T-Top car.

However; (isn't there always a big 'however' every dang time we try to improve something on these F-bodies?) now that I have these great cushy and supportive race seats, the inside area adjusting ***** happen to just hit the center console right at the lift lid. I think I could change out the way the center lid opens, but I believe the 4th Gen console is narrower than the 3rd?

Can anyone comment on the narrowness and if the item seems to blend? Thanks. Feel free to send a couple pics. Nitroneedstoseewhatthedifferenceiz!

There is a plethora of pics and information on this topic in the Interior board of this swap. Just search for "4th console".

I'm not sure what/where you want it to be more narrow and where you want it to bend, but I have a loose 2001 4th gen console in my garage if you want a measurement of something. They will be slightly different in size for earlier models I believe (e.g. 93-97).

Re: 4 those who've installed 4th gen center console....

The seat adjustment cranks sit smack-dab in the middle area of where the flip-up padded storage lid sits. The amount of clearance I actually have is just under 7 inches (....seems to me I've heard those words before....).

*Under 'SEARCH' I didn't see that area having been measured*

Oh I just meant utilize the search to see pics of different 4th gen installs.

I'm trying to visualize what you mean, but of course the Camaro 3rd gen console is different than the birds that I am more familiar with.

I'm assuming yours has this wider lid:

Whereas mine is like this:

4th gen top view. ..couldn't be that much narrower:

Re: 4 those who've installed 4th gen center console....

Yes, mine has that factory wide fatty lid. The seat adjustment ***** come in from the sides right centered at the padded lid; both horizontally and vertically. So If I could lower the the entire lid area of the console two inches it would clear, and if the console top padded part was only 7 inches wide (6 & 5/8th inch), the ***** wouldn't be in the way of the lid opening and closing.

PS- a SEARCH suggestion is always a good suggestion. I forget sometimes how much indepth available research has already been posted and is right there for the plucking. God bless a hootenanny, I'm tired tonight.... Nitro-Nicky
