driving a new 2012 Camaro this week...
I'm up in Central Idaho this week at a family reunion (no, not looking for a date) and rented a new Camaro to see just what it was really like. I have to say I'm totally disappointed.
If there is someone in the passenger seat, I can not see out the right side of the car or the back at all! That means, no switching lanes unless someone tells me it's clear. How do you do sport driving like that?
THE Head's Up display is really cool and Perfect for all the speed zones that keep changing with the local sheriff sitting along side the road with his speed gun out and pointed atcha/- Nitro

yeah i can see that from the outside. the roofline is low yet you sit kind of high im sure that car has major blind spots..it doesn thave some sensor that won't let u turn if something is next to you? haha..
Thirdgen's are where it is at. FTW.

I drove one and didn't have that problem with blind spots. I liked the shifting on the steering wheel, if decided to shift that way! Some of them are pretty sweet looking!

Re: driving a new 2012 Camaro this week...
Saw a New 2011 SS @ my Uncles Dealership last year and I fell in love with it, and even if I didn't have room to take it home with me, I just HAD to Drive it at least once, it was a 6speed meaning LS3 426HP
I didn't have a problem with visibility since I'm 6'3 1/2" and can adjust the seat however I like it most, up down back and forth, and its a Pleasure to drive, plenty of Power & Grunt, My Biggest issue with the interior was the Deep dish steering wheel, I would have preffered a flat dish wheel like the Mustang uses or like the 80's Iroc Wheel, The Horn was Level with the spokes and not Sucked in like the 2010 - 2011 Camaros, Just my Feelings on it.

Phenon,With your Avatar::::: Did you have any proplems or isues over using the factory Tilt mechaninism??????. It must have seemed like a night and day difference between the power and handling. between the two camaro's. That V-6 rating is near and dear to what my wife carries in her Inifinion G-37, but it only has about/approx two thousand pounds less weight to deel with over the chubby camaro.eldeddeiwith!!! I'll have to test drive the Caddilac CTS supercharger now, with nooo riders!!!!!

You guys are funny, I love this site. Anyway the power to weight ratio between a medium built third gen and the new Camaro, I like the power and feel of the third gen. One of my friends traded his 2010 Camaro for a 2011 Corvette. He likes the power of the vette better.

There's less body on the vette for vibrations to go to therefore you feel more engine. And the vette is GMs #1 car, it must have a minimum of equal power or more than the Camaro, Thats their Golden Rule, which is why we will probably never see an LS9 Factory ZL1 or Z28, unless they do away with that Golden Rule.

Well at 580 crank horsepower the ZL1 doesn't feel like a Pig trust me.

Re: driving a new 2012 Camaro this week...
It handles wonderfully. They've set up the suspension for close to nuteral steer right out of the box. But when you can't see through, around, or past a passenger's head and the only option is to just 'guess', That made it very pig-like for me. Plus, my rear end was fatigued in freeway driving within 3 hours, something my current 3rd gen Camaro still dosn't do.
The seats were bulstered well, fit great, etc, so I was surprised that our butt's were unhappy so soon. Plus the V6 sucked the gas faster than my ***** of a 1/2 sister. That was doing a 75 mph run from Twin to Boise on a straight freeway shot
Also noticed with the paddle shifters that with the heavy weight of the ride, it wasn't really able to slow the Camaro down much when downshifting as far down as to 2nd gear. That couple thousand extra pounds really makes a difference. But did I ever love the heads up windshild display readout and the neon accent lighting in the seats (A TRON copy-cat!)
If you're by yourself, it's much-much easier to see out of and thus changing lanes only takes the driver to be tall or lift the power seat up high. I still had to plan ahead for all my right hand turns though.
