I've been wanting to do this for some time but need people to actually commit to it so i can plan. I am from South Lake Tahoe so i can set something real nice up.
I think the potential for this is huge. I am thinking a July or August thing when the weather is warmest.
So, you interested at all?

I think Tahoe would be a great place to have a gathering. It would be nice to make it another WCG, but as a refrigeration mechanic, it is very difficult to get any time off in late July or August. If I can get the time off, I'll be there. My 3rd gen won't be running by then, though.
Well guys, only thing is July or August are the only times you'd want to do it in Tahoe. That'll give us 70-80 temps and beautiful weather. Sept. starts getting chilly quick and June hasnt warmed up too much yet.

My wife and I went to Tahoe at the end of October a couple of years ago, and the weather wasn't bad at all. In fact, the weekend we headed back, the car club in Bishop was doing their "Fall Colors Tour." Unfortunately, they strictly enforce a 25 years old or older rule, so 3rd gens can't participate in the tour.
Well you probably got lucky with the weather. Snow is possible in October......not likely but possible.
Ok, ok, ok........ Would the first weekend in September be do-able for everyone??? Even though we risk the weather that late in the summer....

Ok.....here is my rough (and original, wanted to do this already....) idea of this thing....
Originally I was thinking of a Northern CA thing and meeting up in Sacramento to drive up to Tahoe. However, obviously anyone is welcome to come.
So....my idea...
Meet up in Sacramento (for those that apply....) early on a Saturday morning. Its about an hour and half drive from downtown Sacramento in good traffic. We leave and cruise up Hwy 50 which is a pretty decent drive (real scenic and fun if you've never done it). Get into town around 11ish a.m.
Cruise to my house (?) or the car wash if needed and clean up the vehicles. Now we head into town and to the beach! (Not really decided on what beach yet)
Find a place to park all the cars together, ideally in front of the Lake, and hang at the beach and have a BBQ. Eat, drink, chat, take pictures, etc etc....
Around 2ish (?) Get in the cars and we head out of town on Hwy 89 North going out around Emerald Bay ( amazing scenery and beautiful picture opportunities). Continue along the west shore of the Lake (mostly right on the shore and close to the water).
Possibly stop at a little Cafe or grill on the North shore and grab a bite, take some pictures etc...
Come back along the East shore where we take a quick trip up into the hills and down again (about a 1000 ft elevation change), this is fun
Then as we come back to the South Shore we are met by the towering sights of Ceazars, Harrah's, Harvey's, and The Horizon
.
Stop in at the nearest casino for some night life!
For those that wish to stay the night and party, or just stay for another day..... I should be able to arrange some kind of deal at the Embassy Suites as I have a good friend working there.
Anyhow, the drive around the Lake is simply awesome. Amazing views of the mountains and the Lake, Emerald Bay is beautiful, and there are tons of opportunities for really incredible photos.
How's that sound for those that wanted more info. ?

If you get a bunch of people from out of the area, you might consider a side trip to Reno to the "National Automobile Museum."
A lot of the cars that were in Harrah's collection have been sold off to pay for setting up the Museum, but it is still a nice collection.

Russ, maybe you could carpool with a local 'vert owner? Just a thought. Lon
If I can get free, I was thinking some of us might "caravan." My wife would be going with me, and I don't think the back seat of a "vert" has any more leg room than the coupes. It does have a lot more head room though.
I think the first weekend in September is Labor Day. My wife will have to work that weekend, and I think Tahoe and all of the routes in or out will be crowded that weekend. My suggestion would be for the weekend after Labor Day. My wife is charge nurse on a floor at a local hospital, and she has to set up her schedule 2 or 3 months in advance.

Don't push it into September on my account, only do that if you are trying to accomodate lots of other people. If you want to do it in July or August, go for it. I currently know that the 3rd weekend of August I am committed to the All Camaro Show in Seattle, the last weekend of August I'll most likely be in Spokane, WA, Labor Day weekend is tied up with family, the second weekend of September is the Rod Run to the End of the World, and the third weekend of September is when my Camaro club holds our All Camaro Show in Wilsonville, OR.
