A little info and a Supercharger for sale!!!

Hey guys just thought I should let you know that around new years Im getting a 89 Firebird with a 305 Crate motor pushing 270hp. It has bad shifting plates and a crap hood,no radio and needs a paint job, but has perfect interior and I cant beat that for 800. Yes im keeping my 91 firebird with the 6. Also remember mike with the supercharged black firebird that traded it for a 5.0 mustang. Well he told me tell you guys that he still has the blower setup, he wants 1500 and it has about 1000miles on it.

I think that it is an orginal Vortech from 1991. You could always do a search for his name and find it. He posted a bunch of times about the supercharger.

the kit is a paxton model number SN-89. the head unit is rated at 5-8psi, so pretty mellow however thats what i wanted that way i didn't need to make any supporting modifications to the car. the kit was made in 1992, however was NEVER installed until i got my hands on it. i have ALL the original paperwork that came with it, not to mention lots of literature about the kit itself. the entire kit is polished as well, so between the head-unit/it's piping, it all looks really cool. like i said, it's only had about 200 miles with the charger on it, but even with low boost, it'll lite up the tires with a good kickdown.

First dibs - Please let Mike know that I'm interested (he knows me), and that I can probably give him cash for it (or at least a significant down pmt...).

(So much for the forged 383 crank I thought I'd be getting myself for Christmas...)

Tim, I don't see a spot for a maf sensor on that setup. Mikes car was speed density. So make sure it will work for ya.

hey guys, lol sorry it's been so long, i've been going out of town a LOT for work, so i never really had time to stop in (even though im in gallup NM right now )

anyways, it's not me that has the charger, it's my good friend jeremy (whom i bought the mustang from) he's asking $1500 for it, or of course... best offer. the kit still has EVERYTHING (including the water/meth injection that i never put on). as far as tim/sasa goes, well guys, which ever buys the kit (and yes it was an SD car) i just thought i'd let you know that the kit IS meant for a Camaro, so theres a few things i couldn't do because of it...

1) got lazy and instead of relocating the cruise, i just took it off
2) the recomended air intake won't work as the directions recomend.. instead, i just made it work with some pieces that came with the kit (as you can see in the pic it doesn't look all that bad. the reasdon for this is because that evap can thingy and the battery are on opposite sides on our cars then the maro's)
3)because of the said air intake setup, you can see that i removed my washer fluid res. now im sure that if you though things through for more then i did (ten minutes lol) you could probably make EVERYTHING work, i just wanted to get the kit on and take it for a spin.

and that should be about it. if anyone has any questions, just ask me because i know about the kit a lot more then my buddie Jer. also, if you'd like to contact him about it, pm me and i will give you his cell. he lives around the 104th and federal area, so he's pretty close to a lot of us.
----------
oh yeah, and guys... use this kit at your own risk... i thought it would be mellow enough to rock on my t/a with 101,000, and you all know what happened lol.

Well, as most of you have probably guessed by now, I've decided against getting the blower - not because of anything that I feel is wrong with it, it's just that I've had a plan for my car, and the plan is to build the engine for boost, and only then start adding the forced induction. I've gotta admit though, the thought of getting a low-mileage blower for nearly 60% less than the cost of a new one was pretty intoxicating though...

Also, I've gotta say that I really appreciate the way that you guys added your feedback in - I hadn't even thought about what to do about the MAF sensor (although long-term plans are to swap to a SD setup, probably with a FAST XFI or TEC3 system - although the BigStuff3 looks really appealing as well).

I guess that it ultimately boiled down to two things -

* I would've had to pull some money out of savings to get the supercharger, & I'm dead-set on building this car on a cash-only basis;

* and I've nearly got the money for that 4340 crank now. If I were to get the blower, I'd have to start saving for the crank all over again, & I'd be sitting around for God-knows-how-long with my new supercharger, heads, intake & other misc. crap collecting dust until I can finally get all the parts to put it together. If I get the crank now, then I've got a chance to have the 383 built by summertime, (admittedly as a naturally-aspirated engine) so that I can start enjoying it.

Besides, I've been lusting after owning my own turbocharged V6 or V8 ever since working at a Buick dealership when they were building GNs...

I do apologize to Mike and/or Jeremy though - because even with being so busy, I should've contacted them when I realized that I probably wasn't going to get it...

My engine has less than 20K on it, with over 60 on the oil preassure I would not worry about it for now.

I'll contact him.

Thanks.
