Would give a fellow third-gen'er these for $40! They have some curb rash, just FYI. Tires hold and air would work as temp, I wouldn't do any burnouts with them though.

Well then I will see about getting to the bank on Monday to get some cash!

Forever is about a year maybe more. I'm getting a bit tired of it since other things are butting in. I'm hoping to get it going good for spring and get a lot more seat time assuming gas isn't outrageous.
I'm hoping to make it to the North Culvers on Fridays since I'm about 3 minutes from it now.
Haha, found this thread and realized nothing has happened since I posted almost 3 years ago. I did find out my stem seals were leaking. Replaced them and now I have all sorts of vacuum and it starts twice as fast as before. Running rich now that I don't have 8 vacuum leaks.
Still waiting on making it out for a good drive. I have to burn a few chips to get the idle straightened out again but after that it should be streetable again.
I do have a 5.3 and a S400 turbo sitting on the shelf. Just need to pull and rebuild a 4L80e before the teardown starts.

Re: Nebraska people!

Gas is cheap again. I'll be tearing it up this year for sure. At 10mpg a tank goes pretty fast.
Funny, I don't think I touched the car since I posted last. Maybe drove it around once or twice. I've been trying to tie up loose ends around the house and it's only going to get worse with a baby on the way. At least it's a boy so I'll have a 'father/son project' excuse to actually spend time on it. Unfortunately that's another 5-10 years from now.

Re: Nebraska people!

Hi! New user of this site and glad to see all the info. My '90 Firebird was purchased for cheap last year from a guy I work with. But the V6 hasn't been reliable; ignition problems. Ordered an LS1 from a 2000 Camero and it is on the way. My boys and I will try to do the swap ourselves. With so much help online I think we can swing it! We're in Hastings.

Re: Nebraska people!

The engine swap is coming along. It takes time with a family and full-time work. I'll post some photos to update. I've been amazed at all the great information and help available online for this project!

Checking fit of headers

Getting mill off the pallet and onto wheeled cart

Not a big garage but will have to make it do!

Installed LED lighting to help project

V6 in car still but nearing disconnection

Re: Nebraska people!

Keep it up. I put a 5.3 in my 93 C1500 and as you know with kids, it's tough. It took a few months getting up at 5 am just so I could get 1-2 hours in before work. I love it and wish it would have gone into the Firebird as intended.

Re: Nebraska people!

This is a worksheet I made for help with my electrical installation. Thanks to many that have posted such good info online! (Later edit: one wire is wrong: the wire for tranny brake. It should come off cruise control circuit, not like I pictured it in graph. It says A/T TCC.

Re: Nebraska people!

Just had the PCM reprogrammed by a guy named "Sinister Performance" and looks like he did a good job. Have to replace the transmission shift cable, the outside broke near the handle. Then she will go to the muffler shop for a new system!

Checking in and necrothreading. Surprised we're"rocky mountain" and not Midwest.

Live in Waverly, always in Lincoln and Omaha.

Come over to Hastings some night for drag racing!
https://racemph.com/
It's a short strip, even less than 1/8 mile.
My Firebird and I have won some races there!

That would be awesome! Could have my wife tail out and run our 2010 Denali CC AWD 6.2l procharger running 10psi. Inlaws live in York so easy sale to the boss.

Need to get the Z roadworthy again though. Been on the fence about new tires or upgrading rims/tires, but I'm lowered about 2-3" so fender clearance is minimal. The current 245/50r16 are 15-20 years old.
