I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE ABOUT 3RD GEN WS6's, LIKE BADGING,COLORS,PRODUCTION DATES AND VIN#'s. I BELIEVE I FOUND ONE AND A FRIEND OF MINE, WHO HAS A 3RD GEN Z28 SAYS THAT I'M CRAZY. THAT THE WS6 ONLY CAME OUT IN 1998, BUT THE CAR I'M LOOKING AT HAS WS6 ON THE HOOD AND INNER-DOOR PANELS. PLEASE HELP. THANKS KEVIN

WS6 was a common option on 3rd gens. Found on Formulas & Trans Ams. Obvious badge is found on the passenger side lower dash panel which states "performance suspension". I believe WS6 was just a handling/suspension package.

WS6 was an option on all 82-92 Firebirds. It is standard equipment on all Formulas and GTA's. The WS6 suspension package was optional on Trans Ams so you could get a Trans Am without WS6. The "Performance Suspension" badge is not proof that you have WS6. My '85 Trans Am has the badge but is not a WS6 car. The best thing to do is check the option sheet in the console for the WS6 option. However, this sheet is very often missing.

Where in the console is it generally located? Is it like an actual loose peice of paper or a sticker or what?

When you open the console door the sticker should be right on the passenger side of the column. It's not unusual for them to be missing. A lot of times they get torn off from putting stuff in there. About half of the cars I get are missing them.

So what other ways are there to tell? And pardon my ignorance but what's so special about this WS6 stuff?

OK... back on topic now. I know my option code sticker's missing, but is there another one some where in the car? I thought they also put them in the little lock box in the back, but there's not one there either. And where's the build sheet normally found? Under the carpet some where?

Yeah, I'm still around!!! I'm here from time to time but I've been so busy I haven't had much time. This week has been really crazy. I sold forty some things on eBay Sunday so I've been shipping all of it. I've got at least four or five people coming by this weekend for parts. I've got three cars for sale that I've been working on. I was hoping to get a little free time to get the white car ready and take it out in October. However, it doesn't look like it's going to happen because I've got at least seven or eight cars lined up already. It looks like I'm picking up at least three next week. Oh well, I'm not complainin'. You can never have to many thirdgens, right?
