We are not here to have eternal flame wars.
You arent better than someone else if you answer their bickering with your own in public.
Keep it private and off the boards.
If someone is a legitimate scammer here, there are enough of us that it will be exposed very quickly.
If replying to a item for sale, only make the post apply to the item for sale.
For sale posts on regional boards are at the discretion of the moderator. Personally I like the fact that we have first dibs on members parts. Plus we dont have to deal with shipping as most of us know each other and we more or less travel to others areas all the time.
I prefer to keep it this way in the future.
I've even tried to help moderate a few disputes with people who said they got ripped off.
The poll is asking what the rest of you want to do, keep local stuff for sale here or banish it to only on the "for sale" forum.
Oh yes, if u agree or disagree with this, let us know why in a nice formal post.

PS yeah my first poll

I have no problem with it personally. I actually think its a good idea. Only reason we had problems last time is because somebody told someone that a part was junk with some bad parts one minute and next minute they are selling it for a lot of money saying everything works. Just figured it'd be nice for people to have a heads up with what info someone was told.
Well I am a new guy to the forum, but I will give my .02 anyhow. Its nice to be able to look for parts locally. I dont like looking on the main for sale board because its disorganized, sellers should have their state in their subject line.Takes forever to open every thread to see a trans or fender or seats are in New York or California.
I knew the rearend deal was going to go bad.Dont bother me to see someone make a profit on anything they have, but in some cases you should probably not do it on your home turf.

I think that the majority of problems that arise can be handled by a PM rather than aired out for everyone to see and chime in.
THIS IS NOT INTENDED TO SINGLE ANYONE OUT
I am simply trying to suggest ways to handle problems so that we can continue to enjoy the benefits that sharing items, locally first, provides.
Once information is disclosed through a PM that raises concerns, through another PM, ask the person to address those concerns, get their phone number, talk about the problem, work it out.
I would rather talk to someone live rather than try to decipher the tone, attitude, and intentions of a written message. All to often things get out of hand quickly because of the lack of one on one live communication.
If this does not work and the issue is severe enough as to suggest a problem with an individuals honesty or integrity then its time to send a message to the moderator so that it may be handled appropriately.
If the moderator does not reply, AT ALL, to the issue in a reasonable time frame, then maybe, I SAID MAYBE, its time to take matters in your own hands.
However, if you choose to do so, remember that we are all welcomed guests on this board and must use good judgment and restraint, as we may find ourselves ( myself included) unwelcome if we choose not to.

i have no problem about this i just think that is would be wise that next time if someone says this or that about a part and they are not the one selling it or in my case the person from who they got the item from... they sould talk to the seller or from the person the seller got the part from. with doing this it will rule out the "He said She said" crap and it will stop most problems like this from happening. thats just an idea to think about. because with all that was happening about the part we are talking about no one came to me to ask about it witch i feel if they would have they would not feel the need to post what they have posted

I am all for keeping it, I have sold things on here before, I am in the midst of try to sell others. Plus like stated above the "For Sale" boards are disorganized and a thread is lost within a few hours because of the amount of new posts thrown up, and that requires "TTT" it every 1/2 a day just to have your parts anywhere within the first few pages for people to view.
I don't know the details with the rear end deal but it should have been kept private, I don't need to know about it unless it ALREADY happened and I am going to be dealing with the person who sold the bad merchandise. To which Jeremy plainly said we all know each other for the most part or have delt with each other, plus with us living so close it DOES save money not to ship.
I feel Jeremy should have the exclusive right to deletea flaming thread, suspended or banned individuals who can't resolve things in private without involving everyone else. We all are adults, or atleast old enough to handle things like adults, so why don't we do that?
Can't we all just get along?

If the local classifieds were removed from this section... there'd be nothing left to read.
All the thread titles would be:
Man was traffic bad today.
Who went to the World of Wheels?
My Saturn got stuck in the snow.

well since i can't think of anything nice to say about certain members off this board i'm not going to comment. But i do see classifieds as being as nice thing. Otherwise Andrew wouldn't have gotten those seats from me and Dean wouldn't have gotten a 2 piece RMS oil pan either. Those posts never would have existed, so I'd say classifieds do more help than harm.

Well.
Looks like the for sale adds are staying.
I'm going to make a rule sticky about them up top.
Like one for sale post by member at a time.(unless your selling a car and have pics) Than you could have that post and one for parts
No duplicate posting.
No excessive bumping and the like.
Reminders to send someone a PM about something if u know something they dont.
Keeping it clean and off the boards.
