Who else is addicted to.....
SPENDING MONEY!!!!! My Name is Tim and i am addicted.... to spending money on my car.
Well i just spent the rest of my money on some new forged rods and pistons. I wasnt going to buy them but i got a smoking deal and couldnt pass up. I just bought some....
Forged Ross pistons part number 99838, 3.905 bore, 2618 T-61 aluminum, -4cc valve reliefs, 1.326 compression height. New they are $864
Eagle h beams part number CRS6100L3D with ARP8740 rod bolts New $625.
New they would have cost $1489. I paid $775 shipped..... I think thats a killer deal. The shortblock will now handle about 1000hp. These pistons will eat a 300 shot for breakfast. Not that i am going to spray it yet.
Many of you know i was planning on having my heads milled and running about 12.5 to 1 on e85. well i was going to have to flycut my stock pistons quite a bit to do that. To rent the tools it costs $250 and then i have to mess up my stock heads so i wouldnt be able to sell them for $150. So thats $400 right there. I also have rod bolts that cost $100.
So to keep the stock pistons that would be weak from flycutting it would cost about $500. New forged pistons and rods for an extra $275 i think was worth it. I was really worrying about spraying the stock flycutted pistons.
Here are pics.....

Yeah, I placed another Summit order today. Hopefully the last one for the immediate future... but I said that about the last order.
Congrats on your score. That car is apart and together and apart and together. You're a thrasher. I can't even get mine together once!

Yea i dont think i will be pulling the car apart for a while. I am just trying to get all the parts together so when i actually get around to pulling the motor, its only out for about 1-2 weeks. It might not be till the end of summer either as i am really enjoying driving it.

Well with being a sponsor on ls1tech, im on there alot and there are alot of great deals on there, just have to catch things at the right time. If theres anything anyone wants me to keep an eye out for let me know. Also i might be able to get some better deals through some sponsors.

Wait until it's a "race car" and it costs $750 to go race for a weekend...
At least I don't have to worry about getting a Costanza wallet due to cash build up.

Re: Who else is addicted to.....
I know i shouldnt be spending money either but i have been busting my *** porting tb's lately and would be a good investment for years to come. I might as well build a great shortblock that will last 20k miles of abuse(7800rpm and nitrous), rather than saving a grand now just to have to rebuild in a year or 2.

Re: Who else is addicted to.....
yea i am actually working on my heads as we speak. I can definitely show you what to do and what to use. Im sure you can do it your self as well and save the money. Basically i bought a deluxe porting kit from eastwood for $70 that came with everything and i also bought a carbide bit. With just working the valve guides, polishing the chambers, polishing the exhaust runners and de-shrouding the valves you could easily pick up 30 cfm if not more. Time consuming but will be well worth it and cost about $100. I am hoping for about a 50 cfm intake increase without really increasing the runner volume to keep the velocity up.

Re: Who else is addicted to.....
yes I am addicted to. just about every month I'm buying something for the car or around the holidays I'm doing the research. I always tell my wife that there are a lot worst things to be addicted to then cars. my problem is I always have a list of things that I need and then I see a good deal on something else and buy it instead.

Re: Who else is addicted to.....
i too have a problem with blowing ANY extra coin that comes my way on "the black car". believe me i know it's a problem, but theres just so much cool stuff out there! my girlfriend also would like to kill me (even more so if she saw my receipt book, it's getting rather thick). i don't know how much longer pointing out the diamond necklace i got her for x-mas is going to work!
you know what the real problem is? car parts should be free...at least third-gen stuff anyway.

Why didn't I start with a car that would be valuable when I was done?
