Need the Indiana people's opinions here about emissions.

I'm working on a friends 85 Camaro 305 that's been sitting since 1990 and as far as I remember Indiana only checked for Cats on the cars. I would like to ditch the egr and air pump(locked up) and I'm sure I can get it to pass the sniffer test but will it set any ces lights? For the life of me, I can't remember how touchy OBD1 is? Thanks for any help.

The missing egr temp sensor might cause a code 32 if tpi.

It's a carbed engine. So you think I might be ok? If I remember right years ago I had a 89 IROC and when I had it tested, they never even popped the hood, just walked down the side with the mirror looking for the cats. Just wondering if things changes since then?

Never had a car checked and I have lived in Indiana all of my life. As far as I know, if it runs, it can be on the road here......

Different up here. Porter and Lake still sniff and anything older than OBD2 gets the rollers

Yep, it's going on the rollers. Last time I had a obd1 car was my 89 IROC and I got it to pass w/o the AIR and they didn't look under the hood, just checked for cats. I was just wondering if it's the same or are they gonna pop it?

I'm betting it's gas cap check, dyno run, and mirror for cat. They can't make it any harder for those workers. I'd run super high octane and block the radiator a bit to get that engine super hot

Oops, forgot about the gas cap but that's no problem. I'll try your other ideas when it goes in for the test.

So is it carb or TPI?
Pouring a quart of denatured alcohol in the tank before the test will make the CO number go to ZERO.

Carb. I'm getting close to starting it for the first time in 30 years! Got a few more things to do and then just hope for the best.

DO NOT let the old gasoline in the tank run through the system!
