At the car show...

I looked around the forums...all I could find was a BBQ & vendors.
I want to go for the comradery since we all own F-body's, but my social skills suck...so I was wondering about activities in detail??

Also, my car is coming along. It's getting fresh paint as we speak...but it still won't be a "show quality/trailer queen" appearing car. I would like show my IROC-Z along side everyone else's (since I feel it'll be good enough to show), but I don't want to feel out of place if everyone else is showing only "show quality" cars....
So, to everyone attending- What will you be showing?

On a final note- is the car show open to the public correct? If so, is there going to be a donation request benefiting TGO & a local "charity"? If so, I think donating to the Fredricks MD police dept would be great....especially if they'll be escorting the caravan to the track.

I wouldn't worry about your car not being show worthy. A few people are bringing their cars that aren't show worthy and I am one of them. I'm going because I love these cars and want to meet some of these guys who we speak to online with really nice cars. If yours is getting a fresh coat of paint, it should look damn good, unless you have bad rims or something.

don't worry about it being show worthy. This is more of a gathering than a show, although there will be awards. Heck, I may still have a dent in my fender when I come

It is not open to the public, it seemed more of a hassle, with taxes and such. Not too mention it would be harder to self police ourselves with the public coming in.

Ok, so it's not really an official type of car show then....just more-less a gathering for TGO. I'm trying to work things in my favor to where I can attend. This is more-less a guy event, so I'd like to bring a few buddies instead of my wife- but my wife and I's anniversary is that weekend (June 22). So do I go, or don't I go? That's the question I'm still debating with the wife.
I would have a better time if I didn't bring the wife ( Camping, Drinking, etc:rockon: )....but I'd have a pretty BAD time at home, once I returned:sillylol:.
I'm as big of a F-body fan as the next guy on here...so I think it would be a great experiance to run with a
big pack of h o w l i n' V8's all the way down the interstate from PA to Maryland. Not to mention all the great pictures just waiting to be taken at the show....anyone bringing a panoramic camera?

It's our 1st anniversary....Although she tolerates my IROC-Z obsession, she doesn't really care to take part in it. A majority of girls don't think twice about cars anyways, so I'm not bothered by it really. I prolly outta' suck it up, and bring her anyways...leaving the alcohol abusing friends behind.
Ironically, my wifes name is Kristy too- just spelled different. Too bad my Kristy don't like Camaro's like you.

Show ready

I'm with most of the people here...although seeing some beautiful F-bodies (and maybe a F-emale body or two), I'm there for the comaradiere and to share of ideas, tips and lies. I drive my bird everday and will drive it to the gathering from southwest, Va. I doubt it will win any "show trohpies" with the road grim and daily dents/dings, but what the heck, I love her anyway! You'll be surprised how well your social skills increase once you are holding a beer and B/Sing with a group of like-minded people!!! My daughter is coming along and she is really excited and she is definately NOT a gearhead, but likes good-looking cars and the prospect of having a good time.

ROC-Z ,

Were you at the Dayton Trans Am nationals last year? If so what car did you bring there? I might remember you, if I met you there.

later,
Jason

BTW: A f-body doesn't have to be "show quality". Mine isn't and I get compliments all the time. I would love to repaint mine, but its far down on the to-do list.

I might be attended...I woud love to...but..I won't be bringing my car along. I don't think I'll have it done...and ever since the last wreck I was in with my old 84 (wasn't my fault)..I'm kind of scared to drive....lol..sounds weird...but..I just don't want to go through that again. I might be riding along with a friend and his 91 Z28 1LE......I would too love to meet some of the fellow thirdgen owners with their cars

Re: ROC-Z

Jason-

Hey man, I actually didn't know anything about a T/A Nationals around here...never paid to much attention really. But I've been wanting to find local F-body shows, so it sounds like a blast! Where is it held at, and when?
I understand where your coming from on the paint, but my current IROC-Z was dire need of paint. It's a Van Nuys car, so it had some major delamination problems.
I also always enjoyed getting compliments too on my first IROC-Z when I had it. It also was a Van Nuys factory car, and the paint on it was in close to mint condition. But it lived in a garage all it's life, plus was an always adult owned car. But yeah....then I totaled it. I've attached a pic of it below. Taken in 1999. So, now I've got another one. I've been working on it, restoring it for the last year and a half, and it's almost complete now. I went to check on it today at the body shop. Should have it back in two weeks hopefully. In fact, the car will look identically to my first one (pictured below) when it's complete.

"show quality" is subjective, sometimes a car can be simply nice, but by having that look it will recieve constant attention.

My Camaro is very tidy, rather than show quality, but recieves loads of attention and comments, some of them good!

I wanted to bring my car for this years event, but was unable to (although i have, very generously, been offerd the use of an IROC - thanks Kat)

Next year.................

I see what you mean. Well Phil, we'd love to have you at the next event. I myself am still debating on if I can go to this year's event. It's less than a month away! I guess I better make my mind up shortly.
