New to board
There doesn't seem to be a "general" area here, so I thought I'd make my first post here since this is where I'll probably spend most of my time.
I am about to buy a '90 Formula to use primarily for autocrossing. It's a 5-speed, 305, with dual cats that I plan on running in the SCCA's new Street Touring-X (STX) class. It has a tick under 170K miles on the odometer and around 70K on the engine (had a blown motor when the current owner bought it out of some guy's back yard). The car has:
- 36mm front sway bar (hollow)
- 19mm rear bar
- 1LE driveshaft,
- polyurethane bushings in the rear
- 1LE "ac delete" pulley (AC removed)
The deal also includes a "spare" front cross-member and lower control arms, all of which have been powder coated. The control arms also have new polyurethane bushings. The rear end was also powder coated. And the front seats have been replaced with 4th-gen seats. Otherwise, the car is stock.
I'm picking up the car in a couple weeks. After that, I'll be slowly upgrading other parts of the car to hopefully make it competitive in STX.
Anyway, I've been autocrossing since '97. Started in a Nissan Sentra SE-R, then drove a '96 Z28 1LE in F Stock for awhile, then back to a Sentra SE-R last year (trophied in DSP at last year's Solo II championships). I started road-racing this year, too, and have another toy for that.
As you can see by my sig, I have no brand loyalty and like all kinds of cars (and trucks). If it's kinda quick and fun to drive, it's cool in my book.
