New best time! nothing to brag out though, i am still slow.

1/8 9.181

1000 11.941
1/4 14.287

it felt like a good run after i had to deal with some traction issues. i kinda eased into it but still over did it. i basically wot in drive after that, 1 to 2 shifted at around 5,200 rpm, and 2 to drive shifted at 5,500 rpm. so i might as well get some aftermarket runners, and maybe a ported plenum and afpr to help aid in the top end.

Yes, very good time for your trap speed. I was pulling 14.2s with my auto but trapping about 96-97. Look like you are using your power well!

ok sorry let me rephrase:
i just got these tires and rims, dont want to worry about new tires untill i wear these down. so tires are not an option right now, but i will look into the drag radials for my next pair, thx.
i could maybe buy a set of drag radials for my factory 16x8 rims though. hmm

Oh ok that makes sense! The question is, is traction a hige deal with your car? I know it will spin the tires but will it blow them away! Get a converter and tires and 13s should be easy!
the tires just kinda spin, i dont smoke them or anything like that, i can tell the suspension and tires are trying hard, but maybe its just me. i can launch pretty good on the street (not doin a burnout or anything, i dont even load the converter). maybe i should start to practice more on the street loading the converter, or maybe i shouldnt load the converter at all at the track.
one thing i do know, i need to adjust pinion angle and tire pressure somemore. oh yeah did i mention PRACTICE
but all i need to do is get better at launching and i should get me a 13 second time slip sometime this year.

thats weird that u did all that work to the car from exuast to suspention and only ran a 14.2. my brothe just ran a 14.4 with his almost stock 91 z28. the only thing he has is a flowmaster cat back, k&n's shiftkit (kinda),stb and a dead posi.
i think u have some tuning issues to check out becuz u should be fast then that.

yeah, i know i should be faster but this is my conclusion to ur statement.
i probably added like over 130 pounds to the car. i also ran 14.4, 14.5's stock and that was with a 92 ish mph and a 1.9ish 60 foot.
so i think i do have some other problems but low 14s is still cool with me.
the engine feels pretty strong and i gained like 3 mph from previous times.
i also dont think my times are helped by the fact that the tranny decides to shift at 5,200 to 5,500 at wot in drive with stock tpi
i have my foot all the way on the gas and around the 1/8 i just stare at the rpm and mph and the engine is just screaming not making anything, i was tempted to shift in overdrive but i know thats not really a good idea because the gas is too the floor and i have to left off some for it to shift.
i consider my car to be "pieced together" and i will take the times i get from it.

Good times!
I had the same trap speed and ran a 14.82
My 1/8 trap was close to yours too, damn my top end sucks!
I think you'll see 13's soon :hail:

i need a set of rear tires before i race. if i goto cecil on a wed night i think tpi89vette will set me up with some loners for the night.
it'll be awhile before i get some tires
running out of savings and looking for a tech position isn't going too good.

I think those are great times. Not the fastest, but definitely not the slowest. I mean look at my mods below. My car has trapped a best of about 96.2 mph and my best time was a 14.0. My car does have issues, though. You said your car shifts at 5500 in second>third. My car will not pull that high (or even 5100 for that matter) no matter how long I leave it in second!? I have yet to find my problem, but I guess a fuel pump will be next...
But yes, definitely practice on your launching, that will probably net your best gains. If you would have hit that 1.9 60' you hit before, you would have probably seen some 13's....I wonder if my car will EVER do that...

practice some launches on the street somewhere to get better at it. if you can spin them up pretty good on the street they wont spin nearly as much at the track cause all the rubber laid on the launch pad.
strip and street are 2 different beasts when it comes to launching properly for quickest 60' and overall ET times. it didn't spin up that bad at all when you took me out in her and on that street you should be able to roast them pretty good if your not careful. that is one of my test sites when i want to practice up in the GB area

i am going to jack the car up and tighten most of the suspension components an then fool around with the tv cable and maybe i should try manually shifting at the track again. but i just need a few more runs at the track to get use to everything.
i am also going to make sure my pinion angle is set at -2 degrees.
i think the key will be to add more horsepower up top, because i still am going to have to stay in drive for the 1/4 mile, and its close to 5,200 at the end.

You're at 5200 RPM going through the traps and only pulling 94 MPH? Something doesn't jive... my buddy has a GT that runs mid 12's at 109-110 and it's right around 5000 RPM through the lights w/ a 26 inch tall ET street & 3.73's. I'll assume you have stock 3.27 gears - that should have you right around 4300-4400 RPM in the lights. (It was more like 4120, but I allowed 250-300 RPM for converter slippage in high gear.)

well i think i tend to keep wot untill i know i am passed the finish line, maybe i over due it
just want to make sure i dont let off early.
i think its time for a converter and some tranny mods.

Damn straight. I see you have bought good stuf so far, what are you going to do for a tranny and verter? I think a 2600 Vig would do nicely.

You should get a 9.5" Look into the ones probuilt sells. They are slightly more expensive, but they are the best. I have a 3200 vigilante and it is a top notch converter!
