I haven't been racing this summer in the hot weather but I went to my local 1/8 mile track on Friday to get some baseline times for some mods coming up. I wasn't too dissapointed, ran consistently in the high 8s, my best time ever is 8.68.
8.96. 8.98, 8.99, 8.96
60' times are consistent in the 2.05 to 2.1 range, best ever is 1.95
Ran a little worse than last February, when it was cold. Also I took off the 52mm TB from an LT1 that I had adapted, had too much trouble with the throttle cable and TV cable with aftermarket cables so I took them off and put on the stock 48mm and the stock cables. Don't know how much was that and how much was the hot weather.
I've got a 52 bbk TB in the mail (the right one for my year this time) and a complete Accel Superram setup (I already have the Accel Base on). Also just recieved my SLP 1 5/8" headers. Im very interested to see what all that stuff will do.

Yeah, that thought occurred to me too looking at those times. With the drag radial I can be very consistent with my motor at the present power level. I basically just mash it and it spins only a tiny bit. My reactio times were crap, but in Test and Tune I wasn't really concentrating on that. The only time I actually raced a guy and I concentrated, I got a .7 something, which I guess is respectable.
I just don't think I will be satisfied as a bracket racer. Ive tried it and it's fun and all, but it seems sort of counter intuitive to be slamming on the brakes to make sure you don't break out. I want to make my car go faster and faster. I can still bracket race if I want, there were 7 second cars out there at th 1/8 mile bracket racing. There is a guy there in about a 80s something giant cadillac that he calls himself the geriatric Cadillac and he wins a lot of bracket racing trophies. He runs like 12s in the 1/8 mile. To each his own I guess.
