First time running the car...

Well Friday night I ran the Camaro at the drag strip for the first time... Times were about right what I had expected. Here are a few of the slips:

First Run:
2.14 60'
9.30 1/8 ET
77.28 1/8 MPH
14.33 1/4 ET
99.18 1/4 MPH

Second Run:
2.13 60'
9.09 1/8 ET
79.87 1/8 MPH
14.02 1/4 ET
99.49 1/4 MPH

Third Run:
2.27 60'
9.05 1/8 ET
81.14 1/8 MPH
13.88 1/4 ET
99.91 1/4 MPH

All runs were performed with the exhaust cut-out open. Ok, now for the first two runs the car was set up the same, although my shift points were a little different. On the third run I removed the air cleaner and 17" heavy duty flex fan. Also for the third run I played with the carb a little bit, basically making it dump a little more fuel in there.

The car was missing out on the top-end though. Please refer to this thread for more information. After richening up the carb a little bit the missing got worse and on the top of third gear I was losing a noticeable amount of power.

I did a short burnout (hardly any smoke), and for the launch all I did was hold the RPMs at about 1500-1600 and release the brake and floor it. I hooked w/o wheelspin except for the third run (just had a tiny tiny bit on the third run).

So what do yall think? I know I need to correct my fuel problem, and I now know just how bad my stock torque converter is hurting me. And a lil more power wouldn't hurt either......

Thanks, but I'm not too happy with the 60's nor the missing out on the top end lol...

But hey, it was just the first time out...

I love the XE274 cam . Do you have plans to go to a better flowing cylinder head any time soon?

Probably not, school is starting back up and from the way it looks by the time I get out and get a full-time job hopefully I can just build a new motor from the bottom up...

Oh yeah, the track is 600' above sea level, it was about 84 degrees outside, and I am kinda guessing on this one but around 55% humidity.
