RS Convertible Breaks Into The 14s!
I recorded a new best 1/4 time and speed today (Gtech). The temp was 65 F and that, along with 5,750 RPM shifts, dropped my time to 14.88 Sec. with a speed of 98.4 MPH.
I think that if I upgrade the valve springs to keep the valves from floating I could rev it higher and probably get into the low 14s.

dont forget you have to be very careful with the gtech you have to be on a perfectly flat road to get correct times and remember the mph is always like 4-7 mph to high compared to the track. As an example I can run my gtech in one place and it says i run 13.95 at 101 but the best at the track is 14.40 at 93.what I do with the gtech is run in the same place to see if what I did to the car was an improvement or not.then.To me that is all it is good for.

The reason the Gtechs times will be close and the mph is off is because the track and the Gtech measure mph differently. The Gtech will measure the exact mph at the end of the run. The track measures the mph by averaging the last 60'of the track and using that! Hope this helps!

Thanks a lot for the compliments. The car is in really nice shape and still has fairly low miles for a 1989 (75,000).
I agree that the Gtech speed is high because it takes the measurement at the end of the run as stated earlier.
I Zeroed the Gtech at the starting point and I think it's very flat there. In fact it may be slightly uphill.
I'd say that 13 sec. 1/4 mile is not out of the question. A higher stall and some new tires would help.
Like I said in the original post, I think upgrading the valve train with better springs and 1.6 to 1 roller rockers would let the engine rev higher before valve float and give the cam a chance to really work.
Any guesses where the power band really drops off with a Corvette LT1 camshaft?

Hey Andrew, is there anything left of the formula 350? Can you part it out?
