i finally went to e-town.
me and my dad trailered my car down there last night. this is the first time i have ever raced. it was such a blast. i can't wait until the spring so i can do it again.i am however very disapointed in my times. my first run was a 15.3, second run was 14.9, and the last was a 14.5. i definately thought the car would run low 13's considering the size of the engine thats in it. i think this winter i'm going to redo the top end of my motor with a bigger cam, afr heads, and better intake maniflold. i really think that the car should be in the 12's with out any problem. the car also runs very rich and i have to bump the timing up alot more. i just wanted to get an i dea of what the car runs before the winter comes. alot of guys were telling me that i wasn't happy with my times because i am new to racing. they said that once i start doing it alot i'll start seeing better times.i guess thats true because my first run was a 15.3 and my last was 14.5. im also going to get a set of drag radials. i could not get my car to hook up. everytime i spun them pretty bad. oh well, ill see how i do in the spring will the heads, cam and intake done over the winter. i thought that i would share my experiance with everyone. the only pics i have is of the car on the trailer. sorry no action shot. it was to dark for my camera.

If you are that rich I bet if you leaned out abit you will see a lot better times. I have seen some cars dyno 17 higher at the wheels with the right fuel adjustment because they were that rich.

dude that cam is way to small to wake up that 409 sbc! wake that thing up with atleast a 228 duration 525" lift or better cam!

I was thinking the same thing. It would be a hot cam in a 283 or 305 but a bigger engine needs a bigger cam.
What were your time increments at the track? 60' 1/8 mile etc.

I also just looked at that cam and it is small. You may want to look into the LT4 hotcam or the CC306 cam that is also for Ltx engines. For a 409 I would get something scary.

Your current combo is pretty tame IMO. Good luck with the mods and the car. What was the whole time slip, and what's the entire car's setup?

BADDEST305, i didn't know that you were a member on this board. thats cool. i'll probably be seeing you down there in the spring.
im really not to wise with cams. the guy who built my motor with me picked it out. the motor was built for an everyday driver, so it had to retain street manners. once i painted my car, i decided that i wasn't going to drive the car everyday. then my dad bought a new truck(the green one in the pick) and he gave me his old one. so i pretty much never drive my car. as far as a bigger cam, i still want to be able to drive the car on the street with no problem but i want to be able to race on the weekends. what would you guys recomend. i'm going to make a post in the engine swap board so i can get recomendations for a cam, heads, and intake.
and here is the whole time slip. (my best time of 14.5)
R/T .670
60 2.321
330 6.267
1000 12.210
1/8 9.474(76.68mph)
1/4 14.585(90.92mph)
let me know what you guys think

I definitely agree about the cam plus I would get a RPM, or RPM Airgap intake also cause the performer is basically an aluminum replacement for a steel stocker except hat it takes a holley carb.IMO

slicks will help alot, they kinda did for me. my best was a 15.6 at 88.88mph with a 2.32 60' with my dot slicks that have about 20 runs on them. they gave me the traction i needed but not enuff and i think 3.23 gears are kinda killin my 60' times becuz now withthe added traction i cant move quick enuff, but 3.73's should fix it.
try some slicks even if you can get them for cheap, i got mine for $50 and they have some life left in them.

You trapped higher in the 1/8th on your best ET.
I bet you let off too early (hence the lousy trap). I bet you would have had 97 mph on the last run and maybe a better ET too!
