AutoCross yesterday(video included)

I had a blast yesterday Auto Crossing my 84 Z28! I was the only 3rd gen there, but there was 4-5 4th gens. I don't remember their times but I ran 1:06, 1:03 and 1:01 repectively. There were alot of Subarus running mid to high 50's. I was just happy I didn't hit any cones or dump it. I did struggle for traction most of the time when putting the power down. I think I ran too much psi i my tires, I ran 34psi on all 4 on GoodYear Eagle F1's, 245/45-16's. I usually run 28psi in the rears when I drag race and it hooks better. Maybe next time I'll try 28psi all the way around.

well, our cars tend have have problems putting the power down at those low speeds, not matter what you do. you might try the shoe polish trick, that will help you dermine how far over you are rolling the tires, and help you detirmine if you really need to drop the pressure or not.

Whats the shoe polish trick? Sorry it was my firdt time, but I plan on going again on March 13th. Might come in handy. I also realize the stock seats leave something to be desired, like side bolstering. They don't hold me in place very well.

put shoe polish on the shoulder and sidewall of your tires, it will let you see how far over your are rolling them, you want to maintain a good contact patch, not enough roll over take out pressure, too much, you need to add.

hope that helps.

Shoe polish, (too messy) try white chalk (comes right off). Try to get your local chapter's web add. they usually have tips on A/C racing (car set-up, rules, and driving tech. ) It helps alot. First race this season here in Evansville In. is tomorrow and I'll probably be the only third gen. there!

Well twolf, that's why we made computers! Go to www.scca.org On their site you can find everything you need to know to get started. You can even locate the nearest chapter in your region.
when you go to their web site you will find their schedule of up coming events. Hurry up though, the season is just getting started. (have fun)
