confused

hey guys I'm a lil frustrated I just put Nitto 555r's and ram air boxes on my 91 Z 350 and for some reason even after launching at 1500 with no tire spin my car runs what it ran back in december (14.2) same 60 ft (2.09) but a 9.01 1/8th time (2 tenths faster than december. Grant it it was 90 degrees 100 percent humidity and in december is was 50 with 0 percent humidity. I dont know is wether that much of a difference? I do get the service engine light sometimes wehn cruising at a steady rpm could it be a sensor? Im confused.

It can...

WARNING: YMMV

In short, heat slows you down, humidity slows you down, and dense air pressure helps speed you up. After a year of record keeping with the gauges, I have come up with the following simple rule that works for my car:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Temp goes up 3 degrees, ET slows .01 seconds
Barometer goes down .01-.02, ET slows .01 seconds
Humidity goes up 5%, ET slows .01 seconds
By this guys estimates you should have ran a 14.53 based on the conditions you described. So you "gained" about .33 seconds with your mods. The real test to see if you ET improves will be when conditions are better.
