Just wondering...
I don't really know much of anything about autocross racing, but it seems like something that could be pretty fun to try out. On the flip side of the coin, however, I don't have a suped up car at all, just my little 2.8L daily driver. Really, I was just wondering if anyone at all brings that kind of thing out to autocross events, or if I would be laughed at.

Never participated in one, but know in any motor sports unless you can stick it 100%, goobs of hp does'nt give you anymore advantage. I'd rather have a finely tuned car with minimal hp than a average car and enough power for 3 cars.
Example, say you only have 150hp but car is tuned to flat foot the entire course without a hiccup-your ahead of the game. Now take a monster power plant that you have to really watch how you apply power and end up spinning/drifting/etc...your wasteing motion and thus slowing yourself down.
HP is fun, but often times you can always win with less.

I've never run autocross either but in a way it's like drag racing. It's fun to go fast but there's a class for everyone. A stock vehicle will be grouped into a stock class so everyone in the class has a fair advantage. Once you start doing changes to your car to make it better, you get bumped into faster/better classes. To find out what you can or can't do, pick up a rulebook. Sometimes running in the slower classes can be more competative than running in the faster classes.
